  • Today, December 10, marks International Human Rights Day and Namibian Women’s Day, honouring the fight for justice and remembering the tragic 1959 Old Location Massacre in Windhoek. On this day, 13 unarmed demonstrators were killed, and over 40 wounded, while resisting forced removals under apartheid. This event marked a turning point in Namibia's struggle for freedom. The Old Location, a vibrant and united community, was dismantled, and residents were forcibly moved to Katutura—“a place where we do not want to stay.” Today, the Old Location Cemetery Museum serves as a reminder of this history. Let us reflect on the sacrifices made for equality and honour the legacy of resistance that shaped Namibia's path to independence. ✊🏽 #humanrightsday #namibianwomensday #oldlocationmassacre
