We’re four weeks out from Opening Day, which means it’s finally time to start talking about the 2014 season with some level of sincerity. Before now, it was about “guys when does baseball start?” but we’re actually approaching legitimate baseball so it’s time to get ready. This post will serve as an introduction to the upcoming coverage here at New English D.
First, let’s get caught up on what’s been going on with the team this offseason. We evaluated the trades and signings, and put out a State of the Tigers series to help us remember how the team did in 2013 and what the outlook is for 2014. Those posts can be found here:
- The Fielder-Kinsler Deal, and Ian Kinsler
- The Fister Trade, and Robbie Ray
- Rajai Davis
- Joe Nathan
- Joba Chamberlain
- The State of the Rotation
- The State of the Infield
- The State of the Outfield
- The State of the Bullpen
- The State of the Tigers
We’ve covered other stuff, but that’s the season preview-y stuff for the most part. But hey, don’t be afraid to get into the archives. What’s coming next? A variety of coverage of the 2014 Tigers, including:
- A primer on the stats we used at New English D
- Tips on getting the most out of your baseball watching experience, including must-follows on Twitter, and websites you should have handy during games
- Something to watch about every Tigers player
- Previews of division rivals
- Detroit Tigers Over/Unders
- Predictions about the 2014 season
As the coverage goes forward, we’ll be dropping links on Twitter and will catalog the posts over in the “Guide to 2014” section of the site. We hope you’ll come back often and will tell your friends about what we do here. If you just want to get the articles, follow @NewEnglishD on Twitter. If you want the articles and my general commentary throughout the season, @NeilWeinberg44 is the handle for you. I tend to interact quite a bit, so feel free @ me whenever you like.
