FUTA Alumni Triumph in Prestigious Pay Innovation Pitch
In a remarkable display of innovation and entrepreneurial prowess, Timilehin Adeoye and Emmanuel Adeboje, both alumnus of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), have emerged victorious at the highly competitive Digital PayExpo Pay Innovation Pitch. The event, held on June 6, 2024, at the prestigious Eko Hotel in Lagos, showcased groundbreaking fintech solutions from across the nation.
Timilehin, along with his co-founder, Emmanuel, presented their brainchild, Acceede – a revolutionary flexible payment platform designed to address critical challenges in the education sector. Their ingenious solution stood out among 343 applications, ultimately clinching the top prize of N1 million.
Acceede's innovative approach tackles a persistent problem faced by African secondary schools: the substantial revenue loss due to defaulting school fee payments. By providing sophisticated credit profiling and payment collection services, Acceede empowers educational institutions to identify reliable payers and potentially increase their revenue by up to 30%.
The platform's success is evident in its impressive track record, having processed over 15 million naira for more than 15 schools across Lagos and Ogun State since its inception in late 2021. Acceede's vision extends far beyond these initial achievements, with an ambitious goal to provide 20 million people access to quality education within the next five years.
This triumph not only highlights the exceptional talent nurtured at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, but also underscores the university's commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship among its students. Adeoye, a First Class Honors graduate in Applied Geology (Class of 2022), and Adeboje, who specialized in Cybersecurity (Class of 2022), exemplify the multidisciplinary excellence that FUTA instills in its students.
As Acceede continues to gain traction and transform the educational landscape, FUTA takes pride in the accomplishments of its alumni. This victory serves as an inspiration to current and future students, reinforcing the university's position as a breeding ground for tomorrow's innovators and industry leaders.
The Vice Chancellor Professor Adenike Oladiji has congratulated Timilehin and Emmanuel describing them as worthy ambassadors of FUTA.
