TotalEnergies is set to strengthen Nigeria's gas sector with plans to approve a $750M Ima gas project next year, following its $500M investment in the Ubeta onshore field. These projects will enhance supply to Nigeria's LNG facilities, with the Ubeta project alone contributing 300 million cubic feet per day. The government targets $10B in new investments for deep-water gas exploration under a new policy framework. Munachiso Michael Timothy Adebayo Peter N. Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) has boosted production to 1,386,030 barrels of crude oil and condensate daily, alongside 203,017 barrels of gas equivalent (boe). This brings the country’s total output to 1.59 million barrels per day, reflecting the recovery of its oil and gas sector. The increase comes after resolving political disputes that disrupted operations earlier this year, allowing key fields to resume full production. With the return of major international companies like Eni and BP, Libya’s oil sector is gaining momentum and showing potential for sustained growth. TotalEnergies is seeking environmental approval to drill up to seven exploration wells in the southern region of its Deep Water Orange Basin (DWOB) block off South Africa's west coast. This follows a 2023 authorisation for exploration in the northern part of DWOB. The new area of interest spans nearly 15,000 km2, located 200 kilometers from shore. However, offshore exploration in South Africa faces opposition from environmental activists raising concerns about the impact on fishing communities. Thuso Booth Mogorosi, MEng, Pr.Eng Eng.
