In a remarkable achievement, the Nigeria Customs Service Kano/Jigawa Area Command, led by Comptroller Dauda Chana, generated N102.5 billion in revenue for 2024—a 94% increase compared to 2023! Key Highlights: 🔹 N102.5 billion total revenue collected 🔹 N235 million duty paid from anti-smuggling operations 🔹 Major seizures of: 136 bags of foreign rice, 238 cartons of pasta & couscous, 34 cartons of foreign milk, 552 bales of second-hand clothing, 191 blocks of compressed cannabis (handed to NDLEA), 74,870 tablets of Tramadol and more! 💥 Customs also seized 4,410kg of pangolin scales, working hand-in-hand with the Wildlife Justice Commission. On New Year's Eve, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Zone A Operation Whirlwind Unit, scored a major victory in the fight against smuggling! Customs operatives in Badagry intercepted 61 sacks and 7 jerry cans filled with over 10,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) hidden in a large canoe heading for Benin Republic. Key facts: 61 sacks, each containing 150 litres of PMS Total seized: 10,970 litres Smugglers revived an old tactic of concealing fuel in sacks, marking a first-time interception in this operation. Despite attempts to resist, the Nigerian Military supported the operation, ensuring a safe and successful seizure. This is a clear reminder that Customs remains vigilant in protecting Nigeria's resources and borders from illegal activities, even during the festive season. On Christmas Eve, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) struck a major blow against drug trafficking! Operatives of the NDLEA Marine Command intercepted two boats loaded with a staggering 1,960kg of Ghanaian Loud—a powerful strain of cannabis—at Eleko Beach, Lekki, Lagos. Six foreign nationals, including two Ghanaians and four Beninese, were arrested during the operation.
