The latest health news in Kenya focuses on significant reforms in the country's healthcare system. As of October 1, 2024, Kenya will transition to the Social Health Authority (SHA), which will replace the current National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF). This shift aims to improve healthcare access, particularly for vulnerable populations such as mothers and children. The Linda Mama Programme will be expanded to cover both prenatal and postnatal care, offering more comprehensive support for maternal and child health. The SHA will also extend healthcare coverage to all school-going children. Additionally, there's a focus on public health surveillance as the government strengthens measures to curb the spread of diseases like MPOX, learning from the COVID-19 pandemic. The move to the SHA marks a critical step toward achieving universal healthcare coverage, but there are concerns about the readiness of the digital infrastructure and public awareness surrounding the transition. #BluelifeMagazine #LatestHealthUpdate #Kenya

"The idea that everyone needs exactly 8 glasses of water a day is a myth." Some people may need more or less than 8 glasses. You should drink enough water to keep your urine light yellow, which is a good indicator of hydration. Water from foods (like fruits and vegetables) and other beverages (like tea and coffee) can also contribute to your daily hydration needs. However, thirst is your body’s way of telling you to drink more fluids. Paying attention to thirst and staying hydrated in response is key, rather than adhering to a strict 8-glass rule. So, instead of sticking to a rigid number, focus on staying hydrated throughout the day by drinking when you’re thirsty and considering all sources of fluids. Your body knows best! Follow us for more accurate health tips.
