🔐 Why hibernate mode may not be your Laptop’s best friend for security. Hey #linkedin fam Let's talk about something that might surprise a few of you, hibernating your laptop. While it seems super convenient (I mean, who doesn’t love saving where they left off, right?), when it comes to cybersecurity, it could be doing more harm than good. Here’s why, When you hibernate, your laptop stores your session and memory contents on disk, including sensitive data from your open programs. 🗂️ That means if an attacker gets access to that stored data, they could gain insight into things like encrypted passwords, sensitive files, or session tokens. 😱 Not to mention, it can leave behind an easy trail of breadcrumbs for anyone with malicious intentions. What’s the alternative? A full shutdown. It’s a bit slower, yes, but it wipes out all those memory contents, closing potential doors to bad actors. P.S. Let’s make security a daily habit. Once there, type in your password (don’t worry incognito mode will encrypt your data ) to see how long it would take for a computer to crack it Once you’ve got your result, take a moment to reflect on it. As I wrapped up a foundational cybersecurity class, I invited the learners to share their biggest challenges. Aisha (not real name)stood up, her eyes shining with enthusiasm.
