It's been an exhilarating journey at Chowdeck, and I'm thrilled to share some incredible milestones we've achieved recently. I've witnessed firsthand the phenomenal growth of our on-demand delivery service, and today, I'm delighted to announce that we've secured $2.5 million in seed funding. This investment is a testament to the remarkable work of our team, the trust of our valued customers, and the unwavering support of our investors and partners. It's a significant stride towards our mission of revolutionizing the food delivery landscape in Nigeria. When I joined Chowdeck, we were processing just 1,000 deliveries daily. Today, our dedicated team of over 3,000 riders handles a staggering 14,000 deliveries every single day across 8 major Nigerian cities. This meteoric rise is a result of our pursuit of excellence and our commitment to providing excellent service to our customers. Our growth is further reflected in our GMV, which has skyrocketed from ₦1 billion in October 2023 to an impressive ₦2.4 billion by March 2024 – a remarkable 140% increase in just six months. These numbers represent the trust and loyalty of our ever-growing customer base. At Chowdeck, we take immense pride in our rider network – the backbone of our operations. Our riders earn between ₦100,000 and ₦150,000, which is comparable to the monthly salaries of senior civil servants in Nigeria. We believe in empowering our riders with competitive earnings especially because majority of them are the breadwinners of their families. We are grateful to our investors, including Y Combinator, Goodwater, Shola Akinlade, Ezra Olubi (Paystack co-founders), Simón Borrero, Juan Pablo Ortega (Rappi co-founders), June Angelides MBE, and many others, for their confidence in our vision and their unwavering support. As we embark on the next phase of our growth, we remain steadfast in our commitment to delivering exceptional service, fostering a culture of innovation, and creating value for all our stakeholders. To our customers, thank you for your trust and loyalty. We will continue to push boundaries and exceed your expectations with every delivery. To our riders, you are the driving force behind our success. Your dedication and hard work inspire us daily, and we are committed to providing you with the best possible support and opportunities. To our vendors, thank you for your partnership and for trusting us with your business. Together, we will continue to explore new avenues for growth and success. And finally, to my fellow Chowdeck employees, your passion, creativity, and unwavering dedication are the foundation upon which our success is built. Thank you for your relentless efforts and for believing in our vision. Together, we are reshaping the food delivery landscape in Africa, one order at a time. Buckle up, because this is just the beginning of an extraordinary journey!

🥡 Nigeria’s Chowdeck aims to revolutionize the food delivery market 🥡 - Chowdeck, backed by Y Combinator and $2.5 million in seed funding, is targetting Nigeria's burgeoning food delivery market, projected to reach $2-3 billion by 2032. - CEO Femi Aluko, inspired by Dubai's efficient delivery service, wants to replicate timely deliveries in Nigeria, where previous wait times averaged one to two hours. - Despite heavy competition, Chowdeck prioritizes positive unit economics over high discounts, ensuring sustainability and targeted customer acquisition. - With significant user growth and $5.8 million GMV in 2023, Chowdeck's operational efficiency attracts investors, including YC and Goodwater. - Chowdeck plans to utilize its recent funding to enhance operational efficiency, expand into more Nigerian cities, and prioritize improving the experience for customers, vendors, and delivery riders, with earnings surpassing three to five times the country's monthly minimum wage. 💬 "After a few months of building Chowdeck, it was clear the level of impact we were going to have and teething problems we could solve at scale in the country, especially around earnings. For many people, including us, it was interesting to see our riders getting paid between ₦100,000-200,000 monthly ($83-$170) regularly and profitably,” Aluko told TechCrunch https://lnkd.in/dBC_98_r #lastmiletalent #lastmile #chowdeck #qcommerce #delivery #ycombinator #nigerianstartup

We have secured $2.5 million in seed funding to optimize its operations and support expansion into more cities nationwide! Since launching in October 2021 after the COVID-19 lockdown in Lagos, we've acquired more than 500,000 users, and more than 3,000 riders (typically earning the same as senior civil servants in Nigeria) that serve 8 Nigerian cities (Lagos, Abuja, Ibadan, Port-Harcourt, Ilorin, Benin City, Abeokuta, and Asaba). Earlier today, our CEO and Co-Founder Femi Aluko spoke with David Alabi of CNBC Africa on how our new funding will enable us to double down on our market leadership and lay the groundwork for further expansion into other Nigerian cities!
