Farmers in Nigeria needs to understand the benefits of active cold room. During my work with smallholder farmers, one question I often get asked is, "Why is cold storage of perishables important apart from keeping them fresh?“ This question came up again during my last workshop at Farin-Gada market, particularly with the executives of the market. After my presentation, they asked, “why should we really use active cold rooms since we use other traditional means of preservation?“ My response: "The quality of the food you are selling is very important as people want to be sure of the quality of food they are eating.
