About us
Consumer Advocacy and Empowerment Foundation (CADEF) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the empowerment, protection, emancipation, and enlightenment of consumers in Nigeria. Our pursuit is to increase awareness and defend consumer rights, through rigorous research and policy analysis on key consumer issues, advocacy, education, and legal representation. This initiative was born from the need to increase the level of awareness of the consumers on standardization of goods and services, enforcement and litigation, and the desire to act as an incubator that promotes entrepreneurship amongst the youth.

According to EFInA’s 2023 Access to Financial Services in Nigeria (A2F) Survey, negative perceptions driven by fraud and bad experiences remain one of the biggest deterrents to financial inclusion. Too many Nigerians—especially the most vulnerable—have fallen victim to digital fraud, losing their hard-earned money and, more devastatingly, their trust in financial institutions. Without trust, people hesitate to engage with formal banking systems, leaving them exposed to even greater financial risks. How do we fix this? Consumer Advocacy and Empowerment Foundation (CADEF) and EFInA championed this conversation through EFInA’s latest podcast episode on "Invisible Victims: Tackling Digital Fraud and Protecting the Most Vulnerable in Nigeria's Digital Economy", where CADEF's Executive Director, Prof. Chiso Ndukwe-Okafor, MBA, MPA, EdD was a distinguished guest. Together, we explored: 🔹 The gaps in Nigeria’s consumer protection framework. 🔹 Real-life stories of those affected by fraud 🔹 How regulators and financial institutions can design safer, more inclusive digital financial services. 🔹 Why trust is essential for achieving Nigeria’s financial inclusion goals. 👂🏽 It’s time to listen, learn, and take action! 🎙️ Watch the full episode on our YouTube channel: https://lnkd.in/d_M44SNP 📢 Special thanks to EFInA for driving this crucial conversation.
