I have learned key essential recruitment skills from one recruiter before and again from Nnedinma OKEKE, ACIPM and trust me, it is worth sharing because I see so many recruiters missing out on this key important aspect. #Pre-interview phone call and respect for the candidate: Hello Japheth, I have received your application for ABC position, and I am quite impressed at your skills, while looking to schedule an interview with you on dd/mm/yyyy, I'm quite curious to know, are you available on that date? Me: (Beaming face with smiles, you know of course what my response would be, yeah?) Do you see the above approach? For me, it is already a 100% win for you as a recruiter because I have been given room to prepare to meet with you. In my previous role recruiting, and as a standard procedure, we reach out to candidates via phone call or text message + email at least some days early enough for their preparedness. While the HR profession is a highly respected one, I think we can do better in how we make candidates feel, we can improve on this to make the recruitment process speak well about the entity we represent.
