DKT Nigeria kickstarted its Community Mobilization Program for family planning in Kano State, aiming to provide women, especially those in underserved communities, with essential family planning (FP) information and services. The program seeks to increase awareness through basic FP counseling, referrals to health facilities with trained providers, and linkage to the Honey and Banana Call Centre. As part of the initiative, community mobilizers (CMs) received comprehensive training on key aspects of family planning, effective communication techniques, strategies for impactful mobilization, and an introduction to the mobile app Poket for efficient data collection and monitoring. In attendance at the training were the Executive Secretary of the Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board, the State RH Coordinator, DKT's M&E Specialist, the Hospital Sales Manager for the Northern Region, and the Hospital Sales Representative for Kano. One of the things we're particular about at DKT Nigeria is supporting contraceptive users throughout their contraceptive health journey. In light of this, we recently held a mini outreach in the Makoko community of Lagos State to celebrate women who took up a family planning method, discontinued when they were ready, and safely welcomed their babies. We celebrated these inspiring women with gift items and shared their success stories with others in the community. This moment served as a powerful attestation against common myths and misconceptions about contraceptives, reassuring others that they, too, can make informed choices for their reproductive health.
