About us

Laureates Science Innovation and Education Initiative - Laureates SIE (Ebonyi Laureates) is an organization dedicated to bridging the human capital gap in Ebonyi state Nigeria through empowering Ebonyi indigenes with skills for self-development and connecting them to local and global opportunities. We have a STEM club where we share open-access resources for acquiring STEM skills. We have a Book club where we read books by indigenous Ebonyi authors, promoting Ebonyi heritage and reading culture among Ebonyians. We have a free Scholarship guidance group where we share opportunities for free education and scholarships for Ebonyians. The Scholarship group is particularly important because Ebonyi is one of Nigeria's Educationally less developed states. For two sessions 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 (ongoing) we have been DataCamp Donates partners, empowering Ebonyians and Nigerians with free DataCamp access to learn Data science. We are also recipients of Microsoft for Non-Profits grants and we have been verified by Techsoup. Through our projects we hope to improve Ebonyi representation in STEM, arts, literature, social sciences and other fields. We also hope to reduce poverty in Ebonyi state, as Ebonyi is one of Nigeria's poorest states.

Whenever I see this tweet, I think of Laureates Science Innovation and Education Initiative - Laureates SIE (Ebonyi Laureates). Three doctors from Ebonyi state, Emmanuel Idenyi , Jacob Njideka Nwafor and I, decided to start a platform to connect our people to self development opportunities. I am excited about how far we have come. I am also excited about how much impact we are making, I can remember deciding to halt our DataCamp Donates project, then I read an essay about how much impact the project had on one of our learners that was the day I reapplied for our third year of partnership. We might not be the most formal org out there, we might not have the fanciest website (I recall being too ashamed to share our website Url) but it's not about esthetics or some checklists of formality. If we waited for perfection we wouldn't be here. We are making impact, one opportunity at a time. We have also created a movement, everyday I am excited when different people share opportunities on our community chat. Our passion project is not perfect but it works. Anyone who is from Ebonyi state or knows about Ebonyi state knows that this project is needed and necessary. Its existence more than its perfection. We have also had an overwhelming support from our community. Ndi Ebonyi have rallied around us and we have grown into a much bigger team of hardworking Ebonyians without whom we wouldn't even exist today. Thank you to our amazing team; Nnenna Eze Janet Colette Okike Okoro Sunday Chinonyelum Uchechukwu David Agbo Emmanuel Ucha Success Chukwu Christian Oko Obiora Okechukwu Thank you also to all Ebonyians, Nigerians and the members of the international community who have been resource persons in our programs at no cost to us. #EbonyiLaureates #STEMEbonyi

As you become an adult, you realize that things around you weren't just always there; people made them happen. But only recently have I started to internalize how much tenacity *everything* requires. That hotel, that park, that railway. The world is a museum of passion projec

Help Laureates Science Innovation and Education Initiative - Laureates SIE (Ebonyi Laureates) share her ongoing DataCamp Scholarship. I am grateful for what @LaureatesSIE has been able to achieve among Ebonyians. Attached are screenshots of a testimonial from one of our STEM club members who recently landed a remote role from a company in the USA. I am excited that our small non-profit that started as a Telegram group for sharing opportunities is now serving as a springboard for dreams of Ebonyians. We are excited to be contributing to building human capital in Ebonyi state. We are grateful to @DataCamp for providing us this opportunity to empower our people. I want to ask for a favour, at Ebonyi Laureates, we neither charge for our services nor crowdfund from the public. Therefore for our publicity, we heavily rely on word of mouth as opposed to paid ads. Here's my 2024 LinkedIn Rewind, by Coauthor.studio: Clinical excellence and community empowerment can coexist - that's what 2024 proved. From receiving two National Postgraduate Medical College awards to expanding DataCamp access for Ebonyians, this year demonstrated how medical expertise and community development strengthen each other. The journey from medical school valedictorian to cardiology training has always been about more than personal achievement - it's about building capacity for greater impact. Key milestones that shaped our impact: • Received Dr. S. F. Kuku Prize for Best Overall Candidate in Part I FMCP Examination • Awarded Late Dr. A. O. Senbanjo Prize for Best Female Candidate • Presented research at Nigerian Cardiac Society Conference • Expanded DataCamp access to over 150 Ebonyians and persons with disability • Advanced cardiac care while strengthening STEM education access Three posts that captured our mission: "Today I received two awards from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria" Excellence in medicine serves a greater purpose - touching lives https://lnkd.in/dMqF6iiA "Portharcourt was kind to me" Contributing to advancement of cardiac care in Nigeria https://lnkd.in/dqbXfHdD "When we learnt about DataCamp Donates" Building human capital in Ebonyi through community-driven education https://lnkd.in/dD8v68HZ Looking ahead: 2025 will focus on advancing cardiac care in Nigeria while expanding STEM education access through Laureates SIE. Our community's health and education remain intertwined - strengthening one builds capacity for the other. To every healthcare worker striving for excellence and every community builder working for change: your dedication creates ripples far beyond your immediate impact. #EbonyiLaureates #DCDonates #STEMEbonyi -- Thank you co-author studio for writing the above about me. Pioneer Book Club Lead | AI Enthusiast | EdTech/Advocate | Writer | These Stories Won't Write Themselves

Today, I built my first Convolutional Neural Network with DataCamp. I simulated being on a team building a weather forecasting system. As part of the system, cameras will be installed at various locations to take pictures of the sky. My task was to build a model to classify different cloud types in these pictures, which will help spot approaching weather fronts so I built a convolutional image classifier. The model will consisted of two parts: - A feature extractor that learns a vector of features from the input image. - A classifier that predicts the image's class based on the learned features. All this is in preparation to build a bigger personal project in the coming week that I can't wait to share on this space. Big thanks to Laureates Science Innovation and Education Initiative - Laureates SIE (Ebonyi Laureates) for their role in making this possible. #DcDonates
