I had the opportunity to teach the NYSC, ADO Awaye CDS and NYSC Garki Abuja CDS about LinkedIn optimization, resume, and cover letter writing. Although I wasn’t physically present, the value I shared still reached the group, and that’s what really matters. The power of technology allows us to connect, share, and learn, no matter where we are. What better time it is to learn about LinkedIn, Resume and cover letter writing? Your LinkedIn profile, resume, and cover letter are the first impressions you give to potential employers. Even if you have the skills, knowing how to present them is what will get you noticed. Here’s what I shared with them: LinkedIn Optimization: 💡Create a compelling headline that clearly states who you are and what you do. 💡Use a professional profile picture and a banner that represents your brand or field. 💡Build a strong summary that highlights your skills, experience, and what you’re passionate about. 💡Consistently engage with posts and connect with professionals in your industry. Resume Writing: 💡Tailor your resume to each job application; don’t use the same resume for every role. 💡Use strong action words to describe your experience and achievements. 💡Keep it concise, but impactful; focus on the most relevant skills and experience. 💡Highlight measurable results where possible (e.g., "Increased sales by 20%"). Cover Letter Writing: 💡Address the recruiter or hiring manager directly by name (if possible). 💡Share why you’re excited about the role and how your skills align with the job. 💡Keep it personal;show your enthusiasm and fit for the company culture. 💡Include a call to action; express your interest in discussing the role further. I know you may not have been informed that you automatically become a content writer to remain relevant on LinkedIn 🤗 But the best way to start writing on this blue app is to start already. THE BEST WAY TO WRITE IS TO START WRITING. You may attend all the classes and buy all the courses on content writing but if you don't implement by writing, you may never start out as a content writer. Trainings are 30% while implementation is 70% Once you learn, put it into practice. "Give yourself the permission to start without having perfection in mind". Write out that first piece and before the end of the week you would have improved greatly. Practice doesn't make perfect it only brings improvement and that's what you need. The way I wrote an article a month ago isn't the way I would write the same article today. What changed? Learning and implementing the new things I learnt. Dear content writer, I am rooting for you. Many people are consistently doing the wrong thing and expecting positive results here on LinkedIn. If you are doing the same thing over and over again without results, pause and check it out. We live in a world of what you sow you shall reap. So if you sow wrongly no matter how consistent and patient you will reap the wrong results but if you sow rightly will reap positive results. So if you're not seeing result with your consistency here on LinkedIn try to do the following 💡 Ask questions Talk to a/ your coach mentor or someone who has the results you admire and stop all the self-made thing. 💡 Get access to people who you admire their results You can get access to people by paying your way through or working your way through ( Volunteering). 💡 Implement what you learnt Many attend different trainings but will never implement what they have learnt. They know what to do but you are not doing it. 💡 Not every message you read or listen to on LinkedIn is for you. Stop consuming every content you get to see on LinkedIn because he may not be what you need at that point in time. If you digest that content hook-line-and-sinker you may be hurting yourself and your brand. E.g Use text-only content. You shouldn't do that if you haven't built to a level here on LinkedIn.
