In September, PROMAD Foundation's team for the SPATS project was in Lafia for the close-out ceremony for our Social Accountability Fellowship (SAF). We graduated 13 young leaders from the 13 local government areas of Nasarawa State who had undergone a two-month hybrid training in social accountability, participatory democracy and engaging governance process as ambassadors of change in their respective grassroots communities. Going forward, they will work closely with the structures of governance in their communities through our Follow The Projects and Grassroots Advocacy Project (GRAP) to contribute to improvement in service delivery for the citizens. Earlier in the week, I was on #TheCivicMatters being aired weekly on Eagles 102.3 FM Abuja powered by PROMAD Foundation and supported by the Nigeria Youth Futures Fund (NYFF). During the programme, I discussed how to strengthen citizens participation in the public budgeting system by leveraging civic tech solutions like the Grassroots Advocacy Project (GRAP) built by PROMAD.
