You can improvise in organization but we can rarely be organized in improvisation.
The complexity of a football environment and the psycho-cognitive demands that goes into 1 minute of a sport where everything (ball, teammates, opposition) is in perpetual movement, at different speeds, and different angles, are more than in any other sports. Players make multiple decisions (kinesthetic, technical, tactical) in the space of not even seconds and all that while the picture in front and around them is constantly changing. It is a game that constantly looks to create chaos and in which players have to find order.
The human beings is triggered to react to chaos. Our instinct will always kick in and very little place given to rational thinking. The game of football in its nature is unpredictable, and my role as a coach is to reduce the “luck” factor, make an unpredictable game as predictable as possible. I believe the more we expose players to differents triggers, situtations, context, the more we can make them knowledgable about the “game”. Tactics is the art of coordinating the action and movements of each player in order to achieve an objective, a game objective before that of a result. The team must be: - unity of thought first, then unity of action in which each player knows his role and that of his partners for maximum harmony and efficiency.
