IRCE was established by IHVN to provide a world class platform for the implementation of Research & Clinical Trials

About us

The International Research Center of Excellence (IRCE) is a Center of Excellence established in 2015 by the Institute of Human Virology Nigeria (IHVN) to create an enabling environment that facilitates research activities that bridge international and Nigerian researchers. IRCE promotes public/private partnerships for quality health services, capacity building, and research in West Africa. The actualization of IRCE epitomizes the vision of IHVN and its prime position as a leader in providing quality health services, capacity building, and health-related research in West Africa. One of IRCE’s key objectives is to provide training and engage new researchers in its mentorship program. IRCE is one of the three centers of the Institute of Human Virology Nigeria (IHVN). Early investigators have been linked to suitable mentors and exposed to training and fellowship opportunities in communicable and non-communicable diseases. IRCE conducts training and mentoring activities on global health education, laboratory and research methodology, statistical methods in epidemiology, scientific and medical ethics, and the principles and practice of clinical trials in collaboration with faculty members of the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and other international faculty.

Three new reports show increased parvovirus B19 spread in the U.S. and highlight the potential increased risk of severe health outcomes for certain groups, including patients who are pregnant, immunocompromised, or have chronic hemolytic blood disorders (like sickle cell disease). If patients in these groups present with flu-like symptoms or rash, consider testing for parvovirus B19. Learn more: https://bit.ly/ParvoB19
