Yakub’s journey with the Natview Foundation for Technology Innovation (NFTI) is a testament to dedication, growth, and impactful contributions. He joined NFTI as an intern Junior Data Analyst after completing his Click-On Kaduna Data Science Fellowship in 2021. His exceptional skills and passion for data soon earned him a permanent role as a Data Analyst in January 2023. Yakub is deeply passionate about data pipelining and data collection. Among his many accomplishments, he played an impactful role in supporting the foundation's transition from ODK Aggregate to ODK Central, which has significantly enhanced data collection processes. His ability to foster a strong working relationship with the ODK team has been instrumental in maintaining NFTI’s data collection tools and infrastructure, both for the organization and the agencies it supports. As one of the pioneer fellows of the Click-On Kaduna Data Science Fellowship Program, Yakub has been actively involved in the program since his graduation. He has co-instructed in the second cohort and served as an instructor in both the third and fourth cohorts. Beyond teaching, Yakub also provides essential technical support for the fellowship, showcasing his versatility and commitment to mentoring the next generation of data professionals. Reflecting on his journey at NFTI, Yakub describes it as transformative. “The caps I’ve worn here speak to how much I’ve grown. Each project I’ve been a part of has not only challenged me but also deepened my knowledge of data and its impact.” He adds, “I’m excited about the challenges and roles ahead, and I look forward to more opportunities to contribute to projects that make a real difference.” We are thrilled to have Yakub on our team and are always inspired by his enthusiasm, devotion, and vision for the future of data-driven innovation. #Data4SocialGood.

The Natview Foundation for Technology Innovation had disseminated the ‘State Inclusive Diagnostic Review of Operational Data in Kano State across 5 Domain Areas’. According to the organization “The Kano Operational Data Diagnostic Assessment is an initiative aimed at improving healthcare delivery in Kano state. The assessment supported by the Kano State Ministry of Health, the Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board [KNSPHCMB] and development partners, evaluated operational data across five critical domains: Human Resources for Health, Service Availability and Readiness, Supply Chain Management, Healthcare Financing, and Data Management”. It added that “the assessment “focused on identifying gaps, optimizing data systems, and providing actionable recommendations for evidence-based decision-making. Field evaluation of 44 primary health care centres, combined with desk reviews and stakeholder engagements, has resulted in a comprehensive roadmap for sustainable healthcare reforms. In his goodwill message, The Statistician-General, of the Kano Bureau of Statistics, Dr. Aliyu Isa Aliyu emphasized the importance of data as the driving force of development. He stated that his organization will assist and provide guidelines to all stakeholders and MDAs in applying data in their operations. He commended Natview for a thorough diagnostic review of the 5 domains and assured all that the state would review all the recommendations suggested. The representative of Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Dr. Yusufari described Kano as one of the 3 states his organization is deeply engaged in, and the diagnostic review across the 5 domains will serve as a baseline data for future, continuous support, and engagement. He called on the state to look into the status of the state as reflected in the National Demographic Health Survey, NDHS 2023 which reflect issues of concern and do better. In the presentation of the key highlights of the diagnostic assessment report, the Strategic Health Policy Adviser, Natview, Dr. Amina Baloni summarizes each domain based on identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement from the desk reviews, landscape assessment, Key Information Interviews, and validation sessions. The Honourable Commissioner of Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf while presenting the keynote address and launching of the report maintained that Kano state had done a lot in improving health services delivery, and will continue to do more by leveraging on the recommendations of the diagnostic assessment. He also stated that currently the state is reviewing the state Human Resources for Health policy and strategic plan in line with the state commitment in improving health care services in the state. He commended partners that played key roles in the diagnostic assessment, and assure them of his support always. The event took place yesterday at Bristol Palace Hotel Kano. #hrh #scm #diagnostic #operationaldata

When I was invited for the first ever Natview Foundation for Technology Innovation Data science community meet up that led to my enrollment into the Longitunal study on availability, absenteeism of health care workers and availability of drugs in Primary health care facilities in Kaduna State, I had that very WOW moment seeing the incredible moment of walking into a tech related conference hall with over 70% of women present. It's been truly inspiring how women are diving deep into the tech world, transforming the way we gather and analyse data using their unique ability to pay rapt attention to details. This is just the beginning, and I am proud to be part of the NFTI community, contributing my quota to continue shaping the healthcare in Nigeria. My deepest appreciation goes out to Natview Foundation for Technology Innovation for the opportunity to be part of this. #Datachampions #NFTI #Womenintech #Empoweredwomen #Kaduna
