There is no gainsaying that access to clean water is a fundamental human right that is constantly under threat by climate change. How do we achieve climate justice in a world where billions of people do not have access to potable water due to incessant flooding, water pollution and droughts resulting from climate change? Climate Justice and Water Justice are intimately connected and we cannot achieve one without the other. We are delighted to be part of this campaign. Water is a fundamental human right! Sensitizing and mobilizing both rights-holders and duty-bearers is key to realizing Water Rights, globally! #ClaimYourWaterRights #WaterRights #HumanRights #SanitationRights #EndWaterPoverty
End Water Poverty marked International Human Rights Day by celebrating five years of Claim Your Water Rights. The impact of our global campaign has been tangible, wide-reaching and - in many cases - transformative. Members’ achievements include: securing legal and policy reform; publishing novel research; enforcing accountability over corporate contamination; starting water rights movements; and supporting hundreds of thousands of people in multiple countries to claim better water and sanitation services. Members have sustained success through years of hard graft and persistence. This success is underpinned by tenacious data gathering, alliance building, community organising and mobilising. Hundreds of training sessions have been held; thousands of people have been reached through radio broadcasts; and millions have been informed that water and sanitation is not a luxury or a commodity – but a right and entitlement. We compiled highlights from members' work over the last two years into a blog⬇️ https://lnkd.in/gdKQTzYE

#Happy_International_Volunteers_Day! Volunteering has been one of the best decisions of my life. It’s not just about giving back to the community; it has proven to be an important tool for my professional growth, connection, and opportunities. Through volunteering, I’ve learned skills no classroom could teach me, built a network of incredible people, and found doors to career opportunities I didn’t even know existed. Many times, the things you do out of passion and service end up being the very things that shape your future. Am grateful to Connected DevelopmentCODE], Nigeria Youth SDGs Network, Network of Water Rights Initiative [NEWARI], #SIRP and other incredible organizations I've had the opportunity to volunteer with. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to grow and for the incredible people I have met on this journey. If you’ve been thinking about volunteering but haven’t taken the leap yet, this is your sign. Feel free to start small, give your time, skills, and whatever else you can, and watch how the world opens up in ways you never imagined. To every volunteer out there, thank you for giving yourself and for the impact you are making. The world is yours to take. Keep shining! Catalyst 2030 Dimiana F. We are excited to be part of the Enugu State 2025 Citizens' Engagement on Budget Preparation. The event underscores government’s commitment to transparency, accountability, open governance, and inclusivity in the state budgeting and resource allocation process. Our participation in this process is not just about raising our voices, it’s about making tangible impact through budget accountability. The huge increment in the 2024 budget allocation to the WASH sector showed government's political will to prioritize WASH interventions in #Enugu State. As a Network, we are committed to working with the government and relevant stakeholders to assess the 2024 budgetary performance (budget release and utilization). As we contribute to the 2025 fiscal year budget, we remain focused on advocating for improved water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) infrastructures across Enugu State. These essentials are critical to the well-being of every citizen, and we are proud to support the government in its efforts to prioritize these needs. Collaboration between citizens and government is key to building a sustainable and inclusive future. Together, we can create an inclusive budget that addresses the basic needs of Enugu residents. #CitizensEngagement #EnuguState #OpenGovernance #WASH #Transparency #Accountability End Water Poverty Water Witness International WaterAid Nigeria Sanitation and Water for All - a UNICEF-hosted global partnership UNICEF Nigeria Jane Bevan Prof. Chidi Onyia Ikenna Ugwu Ogbodo Ogene

A Place for Peace: The Unlikely Refuge of the Toilet November 19th marks World Toilet Day, a day to raise awareness about the importance of sanitation and hygiene. This year’s theme, “Toilet – A place for Peace,” may seem unusual, but it highlights the often-overlooked role that toilets play in our lives. In this article, we’ll explore the significance of toilets as a place for peace and how this concept can inspire us to work towards a more equitable and sustainable world.
