On Friday, November 29, 2024, we received the delegation from the Kebbi State Ministry of Digital Economy at the NIGCOMSAT Ground Station. The visit was aimed at exploring the necessary structures, policies and infrastructures required, in addition to building a strong relationship that will lead to partnership, collaborative and potential opportunities for best practices in the field of digital economy. The Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Digital Economy, Muhammad Ibrahim Muhammad led the delegation.

The worthy Breathe Summit 2024 took Abuja by storm, and guess who was spotted among the distinguished guests? None other than the Managing Director of Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NIGCOMSAT)! Organised by the renowned Self-Development and Mental Health Coach, Mrs. Maimuna Ummi Abdullahi—affectionately known as Coach Didi—the event centered around a theme that resonates deeply with professionals worldwide: Employee Wellness. As a leader committed to innovation and progress, Jane Egerton-Idehen’s attendance highlighted the importance of prioritising mental health and holistic well-being in the workplace. “Employee wellness is not just a buzzword; it’s a strategy for building a resilient and productive workforce,” said the MD during an interaction with attendees. Coach Didi, with her signature charisma, facilitated sessions that encouraged participants to take charge of their mental health and foster positive workplace environments.

One of the key highlights of Nigeria’s 25 Years in Space celebrations was the commissioning of the Advanced Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Laboratory (AUVL) annex at National Space Research & Development Agency (NASRDA) by the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji. The Managing Director/CEO of NIGCOMSAT, Jane Egerton-Idehen, in company of other dignitaries, witnessed the commissioning.

On the 4th day of the ongoing Nigeria in Space @ 25 week jointly organised by National Space Research & Development Agency (NASRDA), NIGERIAN COMMUNICATIONS SATELLITE LIMITED (NIGCOMSAT) and the Defence Space Administration, NIGCOMSAT sat on a panel that discussed “Sustainability of the Space Programme through Public Private Partnership.” We were represented by the Deputy General Manager, Innovation and Development, ifeoma nzekwe, who highlighted NIGCOMSAT’s efforts in sustaining Nigeria’s space programme through its innovative space-based Accelerator Programme which, is rooted in Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiatives. The programme fosters collaboration with startups, tech companies, and industry stakeholders to leverage satellite technology for socio-economic development. By providing access to its satellite infrastructure, technical expertise, and mentorship, NIGCOMSAT enables businesses to develop solutions in areas such as communications, agriculture, and climate monitoring. As part of the technical session for Day 2 of the Nigeria in Space at 25 week, Dr Muhammad Alkali, NIGCOMSAT’s Head of Products & Presales( HoPP), was on a panel that discussed “Indigenous Capabilities in Satellite Technology and Launch Services.” In his contributions, he gave valuable insights on strategy development and execution. He also had some suggestions on the need for funding, inter-agency synergy, strategic alliances, and infrastructural deployment.
