I was honored to be featured on Pop Central for an exclusive interview where I engaged with them on my journey as a creative, the prospects of the creative economy, the plans the Nigerian Government has for this dynamic and burgeoning sector, amongst other key areas. It was a delightful time and it made me realize how each time I am beckoned on to speak on the creative economy I naturally reflect on how profound this sector is, the ability it possesses to be impactful with such subtle ease, having its various dynamic components rooted deeply in our daily lives with intense significance for the development of our nation, thus we are constantly reminded of the valuable contributions creativity adds to society. Even more, this interview served as a good platform to share my thoughts on the importance of youths and creatives having adequate representation in government. Am I the only one who loves experimenting? I've been writing more articles than screenplays recently, and it feels like a whole new world. Well, because it is. I've noticed and learned so much. But I'm just beginning. There's still so much more I'd like to experiment with. And I'd like to share those experiences with you guys. But for now, here are 5 things I've learned from this intense article-writing phase of mine: 1. When it comes to writing articles, the angle you write from is everything! Find the right angle or else you've lost the entire story. (Take it from me, it happened to me very recently). 2. Remind yourself to have fun. Lots of people have made articles seem like such a serious form of writing, and yes, it is. But let your voice shine through - It's what gives the article that bop it needs. 3. Rewriting is writing. Yes, this still holds in writing articles. It's where the super spice is. 4. Dig deep! Never approach any story or subject at the surface level. Find the cause, the reaction, the opposing viewpoints, and the key players. Then, form an opinion or analyze it in a way that gives all perspectives fair coverage. 5. Writing from a very personal angle or POV sometimes is your greatest asset. Put your story in there. Put yourself on the line. That's the way to draw the audience in. Thanks to Popcentral, I've been having fun exploring and learning. Visit popcentraltv.com to read and comment on the articles.
