Today we celebrate the incredible journey our precision agriculture incubation program cohort 2.0 graduate at the precision field academy. Precision Field Academy, the African classic digital agriculture training school, has successfully concluded the Precision Agriculture Incubation Program Cohort 2 with the closing ceremony that was held on the 13th of December 2024. This professional training program is aimed at equipping youths with the necessary skills to thrive in the future of work in agriculture. Through this program, Precision Field Academy has trained approximately 250 participants, both online and onsite, grooming and preparing them for the future of work in agriculture. The academy extends its gratitude to Professor Gabriel Dedeke, UAV Committee Chairman, and Professor Olusola Babatunde Kehinde, Vice-Chancellor of FUNAAB, for their endorsement and support. Integrated Aerial Precision, Dev Global, and Dev Afrique also provided invaluable support and promotion. The Precision Agriculture Incubation Program Cohort 2 has been a resounding success, empowering youth with the skills and knowledge required to thrive in the agriculture sector. The Precision Agriculture Incubation Program Cohort 2 has successfully concluded its Onsite Practicals training! Our comprehensive training program covered a wide range of topics, including: Fixed Model Airplane Fabrication. Autonomous Drone Mapping. Drone Pilot Training for individual participants. In addition to hands-on training, our program also included interactive, computer-based sessions on virtual drone simulation. This simulation training is a prerequisite for actual outdoor drone operation. We are glad to report that participants were fully engaged and attentive throughout each session of the onsite training. Embracing Innovation for Career: My Journey at the Precision Agriculture Incubation Programme 2.0 I recently had the privilege of attending a transformative 3-day Drone Training under the Precision Agriculture Incubation Programme 2.0 organized by Precision Field Academy, a subsidiary of Integrated Aerial Precision at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta. Firstly, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the founder, Femi Adekoya popularly referred to as The Flying Farmer, for his generosity and belief in our potential. Despite not being registered participants, he graciously provided six additional slots for my department(Environmental Management and Toxicology), enabling my colleagues and I to benefit from this groundbreaking experience. I’m truly honored and grateful for this opportunity. 🙏 The training itself was a remarkable journey of discovery and practical learning. Each day was packed with exciting activities: 🛠️ Day 1: We learnt about drones, its different types, its software and hardware etc., after which we started drone building class, creating a glider that successfully took flight. This hands-on experience was both challenging and rewarding! 🖥️ Day 2: We learnt how to fly a drone using a drone flight simulator, an essential step before real-world field operations. We also explored mapping software, conducted practical mapping, and gathered crucial data to process later. 🌐 Day 3: The final day brought everything together! We uploaded, analyzed, and created orthographic maps using the collected data. Then, it was time for the real deal—learning to fly a drone, we had different types of drones such as Mavic pro, DJI Phantom Pro 4 amongst others. I learnt how to fly using the DJI Phantom Pro 4. This was a thrilling moment. We also learnt both manual and autonomous operations, of using drones for spraying applications. As an Environmentalist, this training was a game-changer. While initially, I thought it was centered around agriculture, I quickly realized the vast potential for environmental applications—like studying plant health, supporting conservation projects, and much more. The fusion of technology and sustainability is truly inspiring! I’m particularly excited about how drones are revolutionizing sectors globally, and this training has undoubtedly enriched my perspective and prepared me for innovative solutions and increased my capacity which will prepare me for the future of work especially in the environmental field. Get a periscope view of our just concluded Precision Agriculture Incubation Program Cohort 2 Onsite Practical training. Organized by Precision Field Academy. It was a mix of various training on the concept of drone technology starting from Drone piloting,to autonomous drone mapping,Drone Data Processing and Fixed wing Drone Building. Participants were exposed to firsthand knowledge about the potential of Drone technology and the opportunity it presents in changing the world.
