Imona, F, maize farmer — State of the Farms (2024) “I tested my soil once when an extension service encouraged us to do so. While it was helpful, I haven’t done it again, mainly due to limited resources and lack of follow-up. I realise the importance of soil testing and its impact on crop production, but proper guidance and tools are essential for this to become a regular practice." #SOTF2024 #YEA2024 Rural Farmers Hub

Imona, F, maize farmer — State of the Farms (2024) “We were offered insurance as part of the program, and I was curious if anyone had taken insurance before this initiative. I immediately started participating as soon as it was introduced. Initially, we paid ᝩ750, which included insurance coverage for our crops and the inputs loan. They issued payouts when necessary. (ᝩ is a fictitious currency to anonymise the responder) "For instance, when my crops didn’t perform well due to unforeseen issues, I was amazed to receive compensation through the program. The area coordinator came to assess the damage, and I was relieved because part of my field had done poorly. "The insurance was mandatory, not optional, and was integrated into the package. I appreciated this approach because it ensured all farmers were covered. When problems like pests arose in my field, I would consult the Capture app with my group members. We meet every Tuesday to discuss issues and prepare for upcoming farm activities. If we identify a major problem, we escalate it to the coordinator in charge, who visits us at this meeting from time to time." #SOTF2024 #YEA2024 Rural Farmers Hub

6 years later, we're proud to work with agro-dealers to support the hardworking farmers who put food on our tables! 👨🌾👩🌾 A recent look into our data showed us just how important farmers are to our community. ✨ Did you know? ✨ 1. Women make up 30% of our users, and we're seeing more and more women joining every year! 💪 We're committed to providing equal opportunities for everyone in agriculture. 👩🌾💪 2. We're truly pan-African! While Nigeria 🇳🇬 leads the way, we're also seeing amazing growth in other countries like Zimbabwe 🇿🇼, Kenya 🇰🇪 and Tanzania 🇹🇿. It's inspiring to see how our digital tool connects farmers across borders. 🌎 Thank you to all 31,220 of you for being a part of the journey! 😊 #appreciationpost #thankyou

In our first anniversary, most of what we did was talk to Thomas (far-left), an incredibly humble and hardworking farmer from Ogufa, Nigeria. By living and working alongside Thomas, we immersed ourselves in the daily realities of farming life. Everything we learned from him shaped our product thesis and laid the foundation for our mission. As we celebrate this milestone of six years, we not only reflect on our journey but also honour Thomas Ode, whose insights and experiences were instrumental in our development. His story represents the resilience and dedication of countless farmers who inspire us every day. We warmly invite all agro-dealers and farmers to join us as we embark on the next chapter of our journey, committed to fuelling your growth for many more years to come.

In 2003, two kids in high school thought they could change the world through ideas. The next year, they parted ways after completing high school. In 2018, they met again to rekindle that idea of changing the world, this time starting from their home country. It didn’t take long for them to ‘click’, and after several days and nights burrowing through data, research, and policies, they founded Rural Farmers Hub. In 20 days, we will be six years old—lots of highs and some lows. What a journey it has been! Frame 1: Gabriel and Segun (2003) | Frame 2: Segun and Gabriel (2018)
