What LinkedIn Doesn't Show You About Success - Let Me Share My Story! I've always had in me the passion and unquenchable desire to improve things (people & places). It wasn't until a few years later, that I realized it was the unconscious reason why I took on a teaching role as my first full-time job — to help improve the learning capabilities and performance of pre-secondary school kids. And even when my journey took me into the corporate marketplace, I've always sought after roles, projects and companies whose businesses actually improve people's lives; through smart solutions that enhance the financial health of businesses and individuals. When I built my first business—a creative agency—my mission was to help MSMEs and Entrepreneurs to access quality services that meet global standards, without eroding their finances. Same with my second business; a startup with a mission to protect vendors, online shoppers and sellers from online scams and financial losses. Without being conscious of it, as a business consultant, I've also journeyed along the lines of helping business owners increase revenue or get capital. And today, I'm humbled to share with you my recent conferment as a Professional Grant Writer by School of Grant Success (Africa's pioneer school for grant writing & fundraising), graduating with a distinction. I'm absolutely excited and quite exhausted to be honest after completing such a rigorously demanding and intense 2-month training exercise. However, I'm also grateful that my capacity to help businesses access funding through alternative equity-free sources like grants has been further sharpened. I look forward to the future for African businesses in excitement, knowing that through my services, I'm helping people access funding opportunities they couldn't on their own, while for some, this capital keeps the operational light bulb on, saving them from shutting down. I'm deeply grateful to my mentor Edward Esene for founding this program, it's a great pleasure to learn under his tutelage. I'll share more details in a follow-up post. Happy Monday and Welcome to December! It's the perfect time to pause, reflect, and celebrate how far we’ve come in the year. I don't know about you, but for me, this year has been filled with lessons, challenges, and victories. Some of them are big while others are small. Some are even not very noticeable. However, all are meaningful and have their impacts in my growth process. One of the highlights of 2024 was earning a certification in Grant Proposal Writing in October from the School of Grant Success. This milestone is special because it equips me to further support businesses and organizations, especially SMEs, in accessing the funding they need to thrive, which also aligns with the mission of Eliona Business Development Services to reduce SME failures in Nigeria and Africa. Many thanks to my mummy Abiola Okeowo who did not only introduce me to the program, but also paid the tuition for me. As the year draws to a close, I encourage you to take a moment to reflect: *What wins are you proud of this year? *What lessons have shaped you? *How far have you come, even if the progress feels small? *Celebrate the journey, every step matters. WEEK 1, MODULE 1: GRANT WRITING COURSE: THE LIVE A.M.A SESSION Last week Monday, 4th November 2024, we commenced the 4th cohort, and the last one for the year with over 50 persons registered and in attendance The come from diverse industries and sectors, and represent the various levels of enterprises as we know, and are all interested in one thing - raise their competencies in financial resources mobilisation; some to start, while others, its to grow their business or scale their process It was a warm welcome last week Saturday when we had our first Live A.M.A Session, and touched the basics again with all the co-learners, as well as took feedback on week 1 experiences, and provided support to some few in areas they had challenges Week 2 is progressing smoothly, and we look to sharing on some key learnings again on Saturday 16th November, 2024. We take our A.M.A as a very serious business, because we invest a lot into it; and some of out Alumni have given us feedback that it is the best part of the course, with the inclusion of industry experts as invited guest faculties.
