I had a beautiful experience moderating the fireside chat titled 'Educating the Next Billion: Parents as First Teachers' at the just concluded Activated conference, which was convened by Jide AYEGBUSI I have followed BOLA EDWARDS for years now on social media, and I have always loved the unique and beautiful work she does inculcating art into education. Oh! Her signature glasses, too! It was definitely not difficult to identify her from afar at the event. She did justice to the topic by sharing practical and valuable examples of how Parents can take on their roles as first teachers to their children considering the current realities and, of course, in this digital age. The part that struck me the most, especially when I shared about role modelling as a vital way children learn from Parents and how my daughter, for example models after me, recording videos of herself training her future YouTube audience from different parts of the world, was when Ms Edwards also mentioned that her children are also now a part of the production team for her shows! This, of course, was possible because she modelled rightly, and they have developed skills outside of the classroom that are relevant not just for the future of work but life itself. This being said, I would love to encourage every parent to be intentional about imbibing the right culture, values, and skills in their children even as they help them discover and maximize their talents and full potential which is the bedrock of our work Sprouting Daisies Once again, I would love to appreciate the entire Edusko Inc. team for the opportunity to be a part of #activated2024 and for the lovely gift I received. An immense appreciation to Victoria Ogunlade-Ajise (FIMC, CMC), Sprouting Daisies, my indefatigable Global Mentor and Coach for pouring out herself to convene a Conference that fosters a transferable progressive impact in my life. My deep appreciation also goes to the experienced facilitators for making me to access and learn from their wealth of experience. Words can hardly describe the depths to which I was impacted, inspired and motivated to scale new horizons as an Educator at The Build a Sustainable Brand Conference for Educators (BSBC) 2024. I have burning passion in me to blaze the trail in Teaching Profession, but not open to learning outside the system I serve until recently. My growth in the system to the point of heading a school as the Principal, earning recognitions, commendation from Education Board for contributing to High Academic Performance of the School, Leadership award for Excellence by the Stakeholders and even earning APCI FELLOW AWARD in July this year, could not quench my passion. BSBC 2024 has created opportunity for me to release the untapped potential that lies in me by embracing Personal Growth and Self Mastery through intentional actions, self reflection and regulation, resilience and grit, emotional intelligence, empathy practice and the need to stay focus during setbacks. Acronyms for 4Bs and DEAR shared by Miss Carol Barlow are already in practice with my students to strengthen their growth mindset and literacy. It's also important for teachers to reflect on key questions such as: 📌 Why should my voice be valued? 📌 What exactly am I communicating? 📌 Am I speaking out loud enough? 📌 Who am I speaking to?
