  • Africa is not on track to meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. Millions continue to face food insecurity, gender inequality, limited healthcare access, and the devastating impacts of climate change. Weak health systems, and inequitable access to care, leave many vulnerable to preventable diseases and poor health outcomes. These challenges demand bold, sustained action. With less than six years left, the time to act is now. The Africa Social Impact Summit (ASIS) , co-convened by Sterling One Foundation and the United Nations Nigeria, has, over three editions, including its most recent gathering in July, convened global leaders across sectors to address critical challenges and deliver practical, scalable solutions. The platform continues to drive impactful collaborations and unlock significant funding to combat displacement, food insecurity, and gaps in healthcare access, achieving measurable outcomes across the continent. We value your insights as we continue to scale action and refine future editions of the summit. • Africa carries 24% of the global disease burden with less than 1% of global health expenditure. In Sub-Saharan Africa alone, over 50% of health spending is financed by out-of-pocket payments from households. The continent faces dual challenges of combating communicable diseases while addressing a surge in chronic conditions linked to rapid urbanization and lifestyle changes. Today at 9:00 AM CAT in Rwanda, the African Business Coalition for Health Roundtable is focused on Driving Sustainable Healthcare in Africa through Improved Local Production Capacity of Drugs and Medical Commodities as part of the International Health Ministerial Summit with health ministers from over 12 countries. Our CEO, OLAPEJU IBEKWE , will be sharing insights on Strengthening Health Systems for a Better Tomorrow, emphasizing scalable, community-driven solutions that ensure sustainable healthcare delivery for underserved populations and reduce reliance on external supply chains. At the Sterling One Foundation , health is a key focus area. Through our programs addressing maternal and child health, healthcare financing, and disease prevention, we remain committed to ensuring underserved communities have access to essential health services. Our large-scale health outreaches further extend critical care to those who need it most. African Business Coalition for Health has been a longstanding partner of the Sterling One Foundation. At the last edition of The Africa Social Impact Summit (ASIS) convened by Sterling One Foundation and United Nations , African Business Coalition for Health led bold action sessions on health that mobilized private sector solutions and galvanized support for equitable healthcare access across Africa. These conversations reinforced the urgency of addressing systemic barriers to healthcare delivery across the continent. We look forward to scaling these efforts at the next edition of The Africa Social Impact Summit (ASIS) as we drive impactful action toward inclusive and sustainable health systems in Africa. #Healthforall #Scalingaction

  • Food security remains one of our thematic areas, aligning with the theme of the Agriculture Summit Africa (ASA) 2024, “Transitioning from Scarcity to Security.” Led by Sterling Bank and supported by Sterling One Foundation alongside private and public sector partners like the African Union, Leadway, Benue State Government, and other stakeholders and partners, the summit addressed Africa’s food insecurity challenges by driving catalytic investments and creating pathways to sustainable agricultural solutions. As a proud partner of the Agriculture Summit Africa (ASA), we are particularly excited about the catalytic investments brokered at the Nigeria Feed, Fodder, and Livestock Investment Deal Room, which facilitated over $100 million in commitments to strengthen value chains and create transformative opportunities across the continent. Initiatives like these highlight the importance of collaboration in addressing food insecurity, climate change, and economic vulnerabilities. At Sterling One Foundation, we continue to prioritize innovative programs, such as our support for women-led agribusinesses and youth-focused agricultural development, which are geared towards creating sustainable livelihoods and delivering measurable socio-economic impact. #ASA2024 #FoodSecurity #CatalyticInvestments
