Year 1 or Year 6? November marks my work anniversary as a Quality Assurance professional. It’s also the month I landed my first proper testing job—stepping out of internships and freelance experiences into a full-fledged career in QA. Last year, I shared an article celebrating my 5 years in testing titled: "5 Pillars of Software Testing: My 5-Year Roadmap to Success" (https://lnkd.in/dxxfzc4r). This year, I’m marking 6 years with one simple yet transformative truth: "Quality Assurance is more than a role— It's a Mindset" Read the full article here : https://lnkd.in/dVF--Q6T So, I’ll leave you with this: Do you QA your life? Do you identify the defects and buggy parts of your personal and professional journey and work towards fixing them? I’d love to hear your thoughts—what does QA mean to you? #6yearsinQA #QualityAssurance #QAinAfrica #AfricanTech #SoftwareTesting #TheBugDetective #AbiolaRasaq

My Experience Testing Security Features of a Mobile Application. In October, I participated in The Bug Detective two-week functional testing challenge, and I was thrilled to be placed in Team One Yellow, led by Feyipitan Igbowu and Rebecca O. Our team chose to test the Kuda bank mobile application and narrowed our focus to five core features due to the limited timeframe: user registration and login, deposit and transfer, card management, transaction history, and security. I was assigned to work on the security feature with Toluwalase Oluwadare. This was my first time deeply testing security features, and I was eager to improve and prove myself. I worked on two-factor authentication (2FA) and session management. The 2FA implementation in this app didn’t involve the typical OTPs; instead, it used biometrics and passwords. My task was to ensure that the biometric authentication feature worked seamlessly. I tested the app’s ability to register fingerprints accurately, verify stored data, and handle failed biometric attempts. I also checked fallback mechanisms, ensuring users could switch to password authentication smoothly if biometrics failed. For session management, I tested how the app responded to user inactivity, how well it handled concurrent logins, and whether sessions were terminated securely after logout. The journey was not without challenges. Testing biometric authentication in a controlled environment was tricky, as it required simulating real-world conditions. Similarly, balancing strong security measures with a user-friendly experience during session management tests was a learning curve. I was able to push through these hurdles and came out more confident. At the end of the challenge, our team compiled a summary of our work, highlighting the test design, challenges, recommendations, and limitations. This was presented to the organizers, along with the links to the test plan and test environment, in early November. Reflecting on this experience, I am proud of the growth it brought me. I stepped into uncharted territory and came out stronger, learning new skills while contributing to the team. This project was a defining moment in my journey as a software tester. #softtwaretester #Softwaretestingjourney #growthintech
