On the 9th of October 2024, The Law Crest LLP hosted an insightful webinar on Data Security and Legal Compliance, where we dived deep into the evolving legal landscape of data protection and compliance. Key Highlights: Facilitators: Caleb Agyoh and I had the pleasure of leading this session, while Ayomide Oduyela moderated the discussions. My Presentation: I covered the core principles of data protection, including: o CIA Triad Principle: Ensuring Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability of data. o Data Minimization Principle: Collecting only what is necessary. o Storage Limitation Principle: Retaining data only as long as necessary. o Data Accuracy Principle: Ensuring the accuracy and up-to-date status of data. o Purpose Limitation Principle: Using data strictly for the intended purpose. o Lawfulness, Fairness, and Transparency Principle: Adhering to lawful and fair practices with transparent processes. o Accountability Principle: Holding data controllers responsible for compliance. These principles were linked to the broader context of data security, showcasing how they safeguard data from breaches and unauthorized access. Caleb Agyoh’s Session: Caleb discussed the challenges of cross-border data transfer and various compliance issues, providing clarity on how to navigate international data privacy regulations. We had an engaging Q&A session with our attendees, exploring real-life scenarios and sharing best practices for ensuring both data security and legal compliance in today’s digital world. For those who couldn’t attend, you can catch the full recording here: https://lnkd.in/eaV-VEs7 Feel free to reach out with any questions or for further discussions on this critical topic. #DataSecurity #LegalCompliance #DataProtection #LawCrestLLP #DataPrivacy #CyberSecurity #Webinar #CrossBorderDataTransfer #LegalTech
