I will always encourage young people to volunteer. There is just so much that comes from volunteering for a cause that builds into your career and professional development. Many of the skills and abilities I wield at a professional level now were learnt, tested and mastered through volunteering. Interestingly, I am also quite confident in tying my academic excellence, partly, to volunteering. For some persons, the experience you need to land your first job may come from your volunteering engagements. I've had people switch roles and careers, leveraging insights from volunteering. Volunteering equips you with practical experience and helps you discover hidden strengths. It builds skills like leadership, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving—qualities every employer values. So, to every young person out there seeking to grow their skills, make meaningful use of their talents, and discover new opportunities: Volunteer. Look for causes aligned with your passions, and give your time and energy to make an impact. It’s one of the best investments you’ll ever make in yourself and the world around you.
