Over the past few weeks, my engagements and travels have reaffirmed one truth: Entrepreneur Support Organizations (ESOs) are the backbone of Africa's entrepreneurial ecosystem. These organizations—such as The Nest Innovation Technology Park Ltd, Impact Hub Lagos, Co-creation HUB (CcHUB), and other innovation labs—play an indispensable role in transforming raw potential into scalable and sustainable businesses. By providing tailored training, mentorship, and access to markets, ESOs empower entrepreneurs with the skills, networks, and resilience needed to overcome challenges, innovate boldly, and build ventures that tackle some of Africa's most pressing issues. They don’t just nurture businesses; they create catalysts for transformative change. As Africa’s entrepreneurial landscape attracts global attention—fueled by its youthful population, growing talent pool, and untapped opportunities—ESOs are critical for bridging gaps in mentorship, access to funding, and operational excellence. They prepare founders to rise above the noise of polished pitch decks, focusing instead on building sound business models, clear value propositions, and sustainable growth strategies. For investors, this means more than just a reduction in risk; it ensures their capital is directed toward ventures poised for meaningful impact and long-term success. Supporting ESOs is not just a moral imperative—it’s a strategic necessity. These organizations serve as the filter between investors and founders, identifying startups that are truly doing the work versus those chasing hype. By funding accelerator programs, bootcamps, and mentorship initiatives, investors ensure that their capital is safeguarded through well-prepared founders who understand what it takes to build and scale. Beyond individual gains, investing in ESOs fosters trust, builds a more inclusive ecosystem, and positions Africa as a global hub for innovation. Backing ESOs is not just about building businesses; it’s about building the future of #Africa. BlackInTech Berlin 54 Collective Marco M.
