Nigeria’s Circular Economy: A $10 Billion Opportunity by 2030! At the Nigeria Climate Innovation Center Climate Change Forum, our CEO, Bankole Oloruntoba, highlighted Nigeria’s transition to a circular economy as a game-changer for economic growth, sustainability, and job creation. With the right policies, investment, and innovation, Nigeria’s circular economy could contribute an estimated $10 billion to the GDP by 2030 while creating over two million direct and indirect jobs! Speaking on the topic “Nigeria’s Transition to a Circular Economy: Boosting a Trillion-Dollar Economy through Recycling, Upcycling, and Waste-to-Energy Solutions,” he emphasized how circularity strengthens industrial capacity, reduces reliance on raw materials, and fosters economic resilience. Key opportunities in Nigeria’s circular economy: - Converting organic waste into biofertilizers and biogas for agriculture - Recycling materials to enhance efficiency in manufacturing - Waste-to-energy solutions for power generation and alternative fuels - Using sustainable materials in construction for urban resilience To make this vision a reality, collaboration is key. The government, businesses, and citizens must work together to implement policies that encourage sustainable waste management and circular production. At Nigeria Climate Innovation Center, we are committed to leading this transformation driving green innovation, fostering climate resilience, and positioning Nigeria as a leader in sustainable economic growth.
