This post might read off-script and a bit packed, please bear with me. My partners and I are often accused of not speaking about our work enough because we feel "our work should speak for itself" but today, I'm excited to share some work highlights from last week, the key one being the release of our report on the Nigerian Venture Ecosystem to celebrate 10 years of TLP Advisory supporting entrepreneurs. Working on this reignited my passion for this path I have chosen. The report is available at https://lnkd.in/dPtq9uQe, and I discussed it on CNBC Africa - (https://lnkd.in/dwgBTe7n) A few other fun work things I did last week: 1. One of my favourite things to do is teach, so I enjoyed talking about term sheets and legal due diligence at Ventures Platform Fund's Path to Series A Bootcamp on Tuesday. It was surprising how many founders didn't understand liquidation preference, a crucial concept! Here's a great post on liquidation preference and why it matters in an exit - https://shorturl.at/Srovo 2. Attended Ventures Platform's Africa Prosperity Summit on Thursday and Friday which featured so many solid speakers, attendees, and useful insights. I am proud of the work Kola A., Dr. Dotun Olowoporoku, and the entire team do daily. Their success is one I have no qualms attaching myself to,😀. Thank you for choosing TLP Advisory always, and just being great people in general. 3. On Saturday, we hosted a breakfast event to launch the report! I moderated a fun chat with Tomiwa Aladekomo and Anta Ndiaye where we started out tracing the last decade of their startup careers and ended with fun rapid-fire questions that involved them and our amazing guests. Thanks for being good sports. 4. Attended Kelechi Achinonu's wedding on Sunday. Kelechi was the project manager for the report and claimed that it was her wedding present to herself. Considering she did a great job, I am happy to give it to her. LOL A special shout out to the TLP Advisory team, particularly the report team - Kelechi, Aloaye Daniel Igiekhumhe, and Ayodeji Olufolahan. We had the best partners ever working on this report project. A big thank you and shoutout to Big Cabal Media (publishers of TechCabal and Zikoko), Blue Advisory (Nigeria), PressOne Africa (Techstars '23), Ventures Platform and Wimbart for their support. To the amazing participants of our report - the survey participants and particularly the 15 amazing people who gave their valuable time to be interviewed and didn't hesitate to share their inspiring stories. Y'all are the real MVPs. CC Nichole Yembra, Mayowa Okegbenle, Kola A., Jessica Hope, Samuel Okwuada, Olu'yomi Ojo, Tomiwa Aladekomo, Joycee Awosika, Ifeoluwa Dare-Johnson, Peace Itimi, Femi Longe, Odunayo Eweniyi, Olumide Soyombo, Adenike Adeyemi and Eghosa Omoigui. To the best partner-sisters, a girl can have, Funkola and Oby. You know how we do. 💚

Last stops of our West African Tour and not the least! 🇳🇬Nigeria Deep dive into the Nigerian ecosystem starting with #AfricaProsperitySummit - a well-rounded conference curated by Ventures Platform Fund who did a phenomenal job at gathering some of the leading GPs, LPs and founders operating in Africa to foster dialogue around how we can shape the future of the VC industry across the continent. 💡The keynotes were very insightful and gave a thorough analysis on how some macro economic factors like the fertility rate and the level of savings could directly impact a country’s economic development. The panels and fireside chats were as astute, articulating interesting concepts such as the « Lake vs Ocean Market strategy » to compare market expansion strategies in Nigeria and Francophone West Africa. 🖼The event ended up with an ecosystem tour giving us a taste of the vibrant Nigerian innovation landscape as well as its artistic and cultural scene featuring the studio’s visit of award-winning artist Victor Ehikhamenor - who offers through his art mediums, the capacity to explore the plurality of Africans’ identity - and the office visit of Moniepoint Group, who shared some savy insights about their scaling strategy. 🎉It was fun to celebrate TLP Advisory ’s 10th anniversary with a panel discussion around « A Decade of the Nigerian Venture Ecosystem » where we shared ideas and stories about the Nigeria’s venture landscape as well as the francophone ecosystem. 🇬🇭Ghana While it was my first time in Accra, I had a feeling of « déjà vu ». Some say that Ghana is an « English-speaking country with a Francophone flavor ». The electrifying ecosystem can rely on solid fundamentals like a high mobile penetration rate, a stable democracy and the acceleration of the digitalization of the economy. 💪🏾The dynamism of the Tech industry was an incredible testament of the resilience of the local founders in spite of the macro-economic challenges they are facing. They can piggy-back on pioneering initiatives driven by the Central Bank and rely on an emerging local VC asset class supported by the Venture Capital Trust Fund. 🙏🏾We had a blast engaging with astounding founders as well as brilliant VCs and ecosystem stakeholders. A special thank you to Bernard Ghartey and Hannah B. Acquah (GVCA) who were very helpful in facilitating our trip to Accra. ✅ This tour confirmed our excitement about West Africa and its numerous opportunities that dazzling founders seize to solution some of the region’s most pressing challenges. Sawari Ventures Fund II is enlarging its investment scope to provide capital to exceptional entrepreneurs in the region solving global issues. #Staytunes 😉
