We are am thrilled to share with the LinkedIn community about an incredible initiative that took place to celebrate Children’s Day on Monday, May 27th, 2024. The Office of the Special Adviser on Special Assignment to Kano State Governor, in collaboration with Vertical Farm Ventures Ltd and American Space Kano, organized a training program on Climate Smart Horticulture for young children in Kano state. It was an enriching and impactful experience as we witnessed the enthusiasm and curiosity of these young minds to learn about horticulture and modern organic farming techniques. The training aimed to equip these children with the necessary skills and knowledge to contribute towards sustainable agriculture and a greener future. Horticulture plays a vital role in our lives, helping to beautify our surroundings and providing us with fresh and healthy produce. By engaging our children in this field at an early age, we are fostering a strong connection with nature and empowering them to make a positive impact on the environment. We would like to express my deepest appreciation to the following organizations for their support and contribution to making this event a success: Office of the Special Adviser on Special Assignment to the Kano State Governor, Afri Agri Products Ltd., American Space Kano, Mujib Hope Foundation, Marf Organics Limited, and wikiHausa. Your partnership and dedication to sustainable farming practices are truly commendable and are instrumental in shaping the lives of these young individuals. Through this collaborative effort, we not only provided valuable training to these children but also instilled in them a sense of responsibility towards the environment. They learned about the importance of conserving natural resources, planting trees, and adopting eco-friendly farming practices. By nurturing their interest in horticulture and organic farming, we are sowing the seeds for a generation that is environmentally conscious and capable of driving change. These children are now equipped with the skills to contribute to their communities, protect the planet, and ensure a sustainable future. We are incredibly proud of all the participants for their dedication and enthusiasm throughout the training program. I am confident that they will use their newfound knowledge to make a real difference in their lives and the lives of others. Let us continue to encourage and support initiatives that empower our children to become agents of change. They hold the key to a greener and brighter future for us all. #ClimateSmartHorticulture #SustainableAgriculture #ChildrensDay2024 #KanoState #Education #OrganicFarming #Collaboration #EnvironmentalResponsibility

Introducing Bamboo Greenhoop In recent years, the demand for locally grown, organic produce has been on the rise, leading to an increase in greenhouse vegetable production. However, the cost of constructing traditional greenhouses using materials such as Galvanised Steel Pipe has become increasingly expensive due to the unstable forex exchange rates. As a sustainable and cost-effective alternative, we propose the construction of a green hoop using Bamboo for vegetable 🥒 🍆 🥬🥦🍅production. Bamboo is not only abundant in many regions of Nigeria but also known for its strength and durability, making it an ideal material for green hoop construction which can help mitigate the impact of fluctuating forex exchange rates on the cost of materials. With this innovative idea, smaller-holder farmers can be able to afford a green hoop which will provide them with a considerable condition to grow vegetables all year round. Dear Farmers 🍅🥦, This survey to understand the level of knowledge that farmers have regarding fertilizers with trace elements, such as Phosphorus Pentoxide 18%, Potassium Oxide 18%, Magnesium Oxide 3%, and Calcium Oxide 7% (e.g., NPK | 15 - 30 - 15 + 2 MgO + TE, NPK | 10 - 53 - 10 + TE, NPK | 18 - 18 - 18 + 3MgO + TE, NPK | 13 - 7 - 24 + 2MgO + 7CaO + TE). The purpose of this survey is to gather information about the familiarity and understanding farmers have about fertilizers containing these specific trace elements. We are interested in assessing their knowledge of the benefits, uses, and appropriate application of such fertilizers in agricultural practices. Additionally, we wish to identify any challenges that farmers face when attempting to acquire fertilizers with these trace elements. Understanding the difficulties they encounter in obtaining these products will help us gain insights into the availability, affordability, or accessibility issues that may exist in the market. By participating in this survey, you will contribute to our research and enable us to develop better strategies to support farmers' needs in the area of fertilizers with trace elements. The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete, and all responses will remain strictly confidential. Thank you for your valuable input.
