I am proud to share that I am joining Absolute Audio Labs as an Audio DSP-ML Engineer in the Netherlands. I am grateful for the mentorship I have received over the past few years. A special thanks to Aurélie Donjon for her guidance during my time at NXP Semiconductors, along with Anis M. HADDOUCHE, Stanislas Larnier and Louis Willems for their continued support throughout my academic journey. Looking forward to this next chapter !

New project: Better hearing thanks to 5G 💬🦻. Absolute Audio Labs will conduct experiments in our field lab combining 5G, AI and machine learning. The objective: drastically improve the sound quality of a hearing aid in noisy environments. the THD Podcast 98, Aernout Arends the CEO of Absolute Audio Labs in the Netherlands joins to discuss their algorithm bridging the gaps from hearing aids to the OTC hearing assist devices. Absolute Audio Labs develops cutting-edge technology for Hearing and Voice applications. Their B2B Audio software suites - PYOUR Audio Hearing, Voice, and Safesound - cover a wide range of applications, mainly focusing on speech intelligibility, personalization, music perception, and hearing protection for TWS earbuds and Hearing Aids. We are also joined by Adrie Van Meijeren of Renesas Electronics to discuss the collaboration with semiconductor manufacturer Renesas. Renesas has selected AAL’s PYOUR Audio new 3.0 hearing suite as the solution for hearing enhancement supported on a new family of connectivity products. The collaboration intends to deliver excellent assistive hearing performance to a broad range of products from (OTC) hearing aids, TWS earbuds to unified communication headsets where it can enhance hearing in noisy environments. FHH 2024 Speaker Spotlight: Jan A.P.M. de Laat, Ph.D., studied physics at the Eindhoven University of Technology and prepared his thesis "The perception of fluctuating sounds by hearing- impaired listeners" at the VU University Medical Center in Amsterdam. He is medical physicist – audiologist at the Department of Audiology at the Leiden University Medical Center. His scientific expertise is the development and application of new diagnostic tools for hearing impaired children and elderly, both in electrophysiology and in psychophysics. He is member of the advisory board of different foundations, like the Dutch Hearing Foundation and the Dutch Foundation for Educational Courses in Audiology, and member of the committee of reference of different institutions, like schools for the deaf and hearing impaired. He is the author of many papers and chapters in international journals and books. Johannes Lyzenga has a bachelor in Electronics (HTS Leeuwarden) and a master in experimental physics (M.Sc.) from the University of Groningen. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Groningen on “Discrimination of simplified vowel spectra”. Over the years he has (co)authored 27 publications while being connected as researcher to the Groningen University Medical Center, Medical Research Council Applied Psychology Unit in Cambridge (UK) and the Amsterdam VU-University Medical Center. He is currently Sr. Audio and Algorithms developer at Absolute Audio Labs BV (Netherlands).
