How advanced is electric flight? In co-production with Rotterdam the Hague Innovation Airport , the Aerospace Innovation Hub @TU Delft co-organized a #RHIA_Talk on Electric Flying. The very well attended event saw over 60 interested aviation colleagues from a wide range of expertise join the discussion. The program consisted of two panel sessions. . The first panel led by Roelof Vos examined electric flying from Aircraft and Technology point of view. Roelof questioned the panelists (thank you for being there!) Reynard de Vries from Elysian Aircraft, Arnold Koetje from Aeronautical & Precision Engineering @ Inholland Delft and Francesco Orefice of TU Delft | Aerospace Engineering. Exciting topics were touched, like #batterydevelopment and #designparameters of electric aircraft. The second panel moderated by Elise Bavelaar touched on Infrastructure and Operation topics. Nanette Lim from NLR - Netherlands Aerospace Centre, Jan-Daan Maasland of Rotterdam The Hague Airport, Oliver Newton of Transavia and Jurjen de Jong, CEO of Electric Flying Connection (EFC) discussed infrastructure requirements (is it easy or hard to create a loading network?), as well as the place of future electric aircraft in commercial aviation. Only too fast the network drinks commenced, and many questions from the audience needed to be answered during those drinks. We are very thankful for Aeronautical & Precision Engineering @ Inholland Delft to host the session in their new building in Delft, The Terminal, that is open for Aerospace Innovation in Delft! [DM if interested]. The students from Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences led by Sten den Hartog were keen to discover it! Some key take-aways from this event: ✈️ the value of bringing together a diverse ecosystem such as aviation is not to be underestimated. Aviation is a system of systems that interlinks. From fuel provider to maintenance center, from aircraft design to airline, all play their part in making aviation more sustainable ✈️ the chicken and egg; from infrastructure comes electric flying opportunities and vice versa. Question is; who breaks the circle? ✈️ certification will for a large part determine the speed of (introduction of) operational and / or commercial electric flights And a lot more on the side…. Follow our account to be notified about more interesting aviation innovation sessions!

* Reusable launchers; what does it take? * 3d Printed multifunctional material * Techno economic model for net-zero aviation * Which type of SAF will be used by airlines in 2050? * Sustainable food supply system in outer space... These are some of the challenging topics of the Aerospace cluster at the JIP - Joint Interdisciplinary Project!! Last week was the final presentation day after 10 weeks of full time work in teams of master students - each master student having a different academic background. This diversity in academic background is not only a lot of fun - it also triggers innovation and results in creative, out of the box, solutions. Many projects result in further research and/or innovation paths. Last week was the final poster presentation - well visited, inspiring to read, and great to see the diversity in topics! There are still so many challenging topics to connect to - if we do this in a smart way there is a lot to gain. We are happy to see that our community is actively involved and making the most of this unique opportunity - Airbus, SES Satellites, Transavia, Skyfinity, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Collins Aerospace, ArianeGroup, SRON Netherlands Institute for Space Research, NLR - Netherlands Aerospace Centre... Are you interested to participate in the next round? Please reach out to Femke Verdegaal or Victor Rijkaart and we will connect you, tell you what it takes, and of course share with you what this could bring to you! Thank you Birgit de Bruin and team for organizing this fantastic course!! #diversity #innovation #Aerospace #group TU Delft Campus Gemeente Delft Provincie Zuid-Holland

Exchanging good practices on policy development towards successful Aerospace Ecosystems - the Aerospace Innovation Hub is a proud member of the MAE Interreg EU. There is so much talent and expertise in Europe and with the MAE Interreg EU we connect 9 different European regions with 10 full partners and 2 associate policy authorities. Last week, Jos van den Boom showcased our journey during the meetings in Bilbao, following a fruitful exchange in Ireland last month together with Victor Rijkaart. With the scientific inputs by Emad Yaghmaei from TU Delft | Technology, Policy and Management we build a strong basis for development of good practices. Together we're harnessing the immense talent and expertise across Europe. By sharing best practices in policy development, we can unlock the full potential of our aerospace ecosystems. LET'S KEEP CONNECTING, LEARNING, AND INNOVATING! #Aerospaceinnovation #MAEInterreg#Collaboration#Europe Gemeente Delft Provincie Zuid-Holland #AerospaceDelta
