Bij Amatis willen we graag aandacht vragen voor het groeiende probleem van huidkanker. Op 1 januari 2023 hadden maar liefst 144.500 Nederlanders huidkanker, waarvan 8.000 te maken hadden met de agressieve vorm melanoom. Huidkanker is de meest voorkomende vorm van kanker in Nederland en legt een enorme druk op dermatologen en huisartsen. Nederland behoort tot de EU-landen met de hoogste incidentie van melanoom. In 2022 werden in heel Europa honderdduizenden nieuwe huidkankergevallen gemeld, en de verwachting is dat dit aantal de komende jaren blijft stijgen. Dit groeiende aantal legt niet alleen een grote druk op de zorg, maar onderzoekers van het Erasmus MC voorspellen dat de totale kosten van huidkanker in Nederland in 2030 €1,35 miljard zullen bedragen. Technologie speelt een cruciale rol in het verlichten van deze last voor de gezondheidszorg. AI-gestuurde oplossingen voor vroege diagnose zijn essentieel om de werkdruk van zorgverleners te verminderen en levens te redden door vroegtijdige opsporing. As of January 1, 2023, around 144,500 people in the Netherlands had been diagnosed with skin cancer, 8,000 of which were aggressive melanoma cases. Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the Netherlands, placing immense pressure on dermatologists and general practitioners. The Netherlands is among the EU countries with the highest incidence of melanoma. In 2022, hundreds of thousands of new skin cancer cases were reported across Europe, and this number is expected to keep rising in the coming years. This growing number not only puts a significant strain on healthcare systems but also, according to researchers at Erasmus MC, is expected to cost €1.35 billion by 2030. Technology plays a vital role in easing this burden on healthcare.
