🌍 #AquaConSoil2025 Theme 4: Integrating Multidimensional Perspectives As part of the European Green Deal, the EU Soil Strategy for 2030 aims to protect and restore soils, ensuring their sustainable use. By 2050, we envision healthy and resilient soil ecosystems across the EU. 🌱 But how do we get there? We need to integrate social, economic, and health perspectives into our approach. From Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment (LCSA), health-related factors are becoming essential. And with localized impacts and diverse data sources, the communication of scientific risk assessments to the public is more crucial than ever. How can we effectively communicate scientific risk assessments to the public, especially when dealing with localized impacts and diverse data sources? Let’s brainstorm together! 🛠 Theme 2 - Innovative Strategies for Sustainable Remediation    Did you know? European soils are facing a serious health crisis, with estimates suggesting that 60-70% of them are unhealthy (European Commission). Meanwhile, approximately 60% of European surface waters fail to meet good ecological standards (European Environmental Agency). Not all contaminants can be easily filtered out, which poses challenges for environmental remediation. We invite you to share your thoughts on emerging innovative techniques to tackle contamination caused by persistent, mobile, and toxic (PMT) substances, as well as very persistent and very mobile (vPvM) substances.  These cutting-edge methods will be divided into several categories: nature-based solutions, environmental biotechnologies, physicochemical techniques, and integrated remediation approaches. But it’s not just about technology. Multidisciplinary collaborations and thorough risk assessments (including human health and ecological risks) are essential for achieving sustainable and effective remediation outcomes.
