Earlier this year, our Greece Discovery Tour gave seafood buyers and journalists a unique opportunity to visit farms and see for themselves the story behind ASC certified farms. We went out on boats and got up close to sea pens and spoke directly to the farmers. The tour included visits to seabass and seabream farms operated by AVRAMAR and Galaxidi Marine Farm S.A. – the oldest farm in Greece – both demonstrating ASC standards in action and showcasing responsible seafood farming practices from hatchery to harvest. Abbie Murdock, Product Developer at Seafood, Wild Fork Foods said; “Being able to see and hear the differences in farm standards was my first big takeaway. To have ASC folks next to me describing the feed required, explaining their take on antibiotics and seeing the actual due diligence they require in real time spoke so much to me. I was able to visualize their purpose." Learn more about our Greece Discovery Tour: https://lnkd.in/ePV284Y7. We are delighted to see this enhanced cooperation within the marine ingredient supply chain, driving improvements to demonstrate responsible sourcing! It's positive news for feed producers working towards ASC Feed certification. The ASC Feed Standard uses an improvement model for marine ingredients which requires feed mills to source increasingly from responsibly managed fisheries over time. Both MarinTrust and Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) play a crucial role in this mechanism and form the key stepping stones for improvement. #Aquaculture #Aquafeed #FishFarming #SeafoodFarming #SeafoodIndustry #Seafood #Sustainability #Ecolabel
🚀 MarinTrust and the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) are pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance cooperation within the #marineingredient supply chain. The agreement aims to improve understanding of both programmes, reduce duplication, and create efficiencies for marine ingredient producers. Both organisations will explore opportunities for mutual recognition and alignment of Standards. 🌊 More 👉 https://lnkd.in/dVPuxi_Z #certifiedmarineingredients #responsiblesourcing #certification #standards Libby Woodhatch Nicolas Guichoux Camiel Derichs Francisco Aldon Laura Courage Nicola Clark Emily McGregor

Did you know Bangladesh is a key player in the global shrimp industry? 🦐 In the fertile Satkhira region, around 80% of the working population is involved in shrimp production. Many of these shrimp farmers are farming the way the generations before them have, and don’t have access to newer methods or ideas. The ASC Improver Programme, launched in 2023, supports farms that aren't ready for certification in improving their farming practices and minimising their impact on the environment.
