𝗕𝗼𝘀𝗸𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 Boskalis was rewarded last Friday evening with a European Excellence Award in PR and Communications in the 'Transport and Logistics' category for our efforts to keep the global audience well informed about the complex salvage of the FSO Safer by our SMIT Salvage colleagues. The European Excellence Awards honor the most outstanding achievements in communications. All entries are judged by the jury on creativity, innovation, execution and strategy of the projects. The Salvage project in the summer of 2023 was exceptional in several ways. In the Red Sea off the coast of Yemen, 180 million liters of crude oil had to be transferred from the decaying FSO Safer to a replacement tanker. This was necessary to prevent an environmental disaster of unprecedented proportions. Because of the expected worldwide attention to this complex salvage operation – commissioned by the United Nations – Boskalis decided to capture the project from start to finish on photo and video. With video reports, photos and progress updates from the salvage team, millions of people around the world were regularly informed about the salvage operation. International and national news media covered the work extensively, using the Boskalis footage. Our video reports and photos also received a lot of positive attention on our own social media channels. After winning four Communicate Lens Awards in the UK – for the use of the videos about the salvage operation – earlier this year, we are again proud of this special recognition. A big thank you to Coen de Jong and Steven Munzebrock for their outstanding work in capturing this project as well as our SMIT Salvage colleagues for the successful execution of the oil transfer under challenging conditions. Watch the stunning video about this project below. #Boskalis #SmitSalvage #CreatingNewHorizons #EuropeanExcellenceAwards #FSOSafer #oiltransfer #EEA2024

𝗟𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗹𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 As a low-lying country, the Netherlands needs strong dikes to protect itself from the ever-rising water. Boskalis has therefore been working together with its partners in a public-private alliance since 2015 – the construction works started in 2019 – to reinforce the 33-kilometer-long Markermeer dikes, which are located along the Markermeer lake between Hoorn and Durgerdam, near the Dutch capital Amsterdam. Our colleagues who have been working there for years recently reached a special milestone: the last load of sand for the reinforcement of the dikes was delivered. Does that mean all the required sand for this dike reinforcement project is already in the right place? No, not yet. The delivered sand will continue to be spread across the work site in the coming period. This will take place both inside and outside the dikes because several dike segments have already been finished in recent months. Special about this typically Dutch infrastructure project is that it's not only highly functional, but also offers great added value for recreation in the area. In Hoorn, for example, a city beach was constructed that was already used by thousands of people last summer, and a few kilometers from this beach we are creating a floodplain, where bicycle and hiking trails and (swimming) jetties are being constructed. #boskalis #creatingnewhorizons #boskalisnederland #markermeerdikes #dikereinforcement #highwaterprotection #climateadaptation

𝗔𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝘂𝗴𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝘇𝗶𝗹 Towed by our oceangoing tugs BOKA Defender, BOKA Expedition and BOKA Sherpa, the FPSO Almirante Tamandaré made quite an impression in Brazil. This 336-meter-long FPSO is one of the largest offshore structures ever to be moored in Brazilian waters. For Boskalis, this was a special transport project, because earlier this year we towed Almirante Tamandaré's sister vessel – the FPSO Sepetiba – with our oceangoing tugs BOKA Fulmar, BOKA Alpine and BOKA Glacier from Southeast Asia to Brazil. These two exceptional transports are yet another testament of our unique capabilities in transporting huge offshore structures around the world with our 13 long-distance towing vessels or 11 semi-submersible heavy transport vessels. We thank the crews of all vessels involved for successfully executing these transports. 𝗕𝗼𝘀𝗸𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀’ 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 Working towards the new year in relative calm is not an option for Boskalis Terramare. Two projects were recently awarded to our Finland-based subsidiary. One of these projects will be carried out in Finland itself. In southern Turku, we are working on the development and construction of a new and modern ferry terminal that is needed to enable tourist and freight traffic between Finland and Sweden. Among other things, our colleagues will construct a 250-meter-long jetty and a roll-on-roll-off ramp. The other project will take place in Lithuania. With our trailing suction hopper dredger Freeway, backhoe dredger Magnor, tugs Union Onyx and Union Topaz and our Terraferre barges 501 and 502, we are going to dredge various types of soil from the port of Klaipèda in order to make the existing quays more accessible. So Boskalis’ northern lights are shining brightly this winter, making an important contribution to the infrastructure of the Scandinavian and Baltic countries. #boskalis #creatingnewhorizons #boskalisterramare #finland #turku #lithouania #klaipeda #dredging #freeway #magnor #uniononyx #uniontopaz #terraferre501 #terraferre502 #innovativeinfrastructure

𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗢𝗞𝗔 𝗔𝗹𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 Whenever we are called upon to assist a vessel in distress, our colleagues at SMIT Salvage are always ready to offer their services. We pull out all the stops to bring the vessel and its cargo to safety and – if possible – refloat it as quickly as possible after it has run aground. The major advantage of SMIT Salvage being part of Boskalis is that salvage operations can regularly be carried out using our own versatile equipment. This was the case recently in Mexico, where a heavy tropical storm caused a pipe-lay barge to run aground. After the necessary preparations of the salvage team and using our powerful oceangoing tug BOKA Alpine with a bollard pull of 205 tons, the barge was refloated off the coast of Coatzacoalcos. A striking example of perfect internal collaboration and outstanding execution. #boskalis #creatingnewhorizons #salvage #smitsalvage #bokaalpine #mexico #collaboration #versatileequipment

𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝟰𝟭, 𝟰𝟮, 𝟰𝟯 ... 𝟱𝟱, 𝟱𝟲…. 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝟲𝟭! Offshore wind farms today no longer consist of ten, but dozens of wind turbines. This also requires dozens of monopiles as foundations. The Eoliennes en Mer Iles d'Yeu et de Noirmoutier offshore wind farm in France from developer OW Ocean Winds is no exception and consists of 61 turbines, good for 488 MW of green electricity. Prior to installation in the French part of the North Sea, the monopiles were fabricated in Southeast Asia. From there, our two semi-submersible heavy transport vessels Black Marlin and Blue Marlin transported the 61 monopiles in just four voyages to Europe. Our Black Marlin carried 11 monopiles on her first voyage and recently delivered another 10 monopiles to the port of La Rochelle. And thanks to an earlier widening of the deck to 63 meters, its sister vessel Blue Marlin transported a record of twenty (!) monopiles per voyage. And so our Blue Marlin recently unloaded the last monopiles in France. Number 41, 42, 43... 55, 56… and 61. A perfect end to an impeccable transport project. 𝗕𝗢𝗞𝗔 𝗚𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗱: 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 Certain vessels will always be remembered for their involvement in significant events or remarkable achievements. This is certainly the case for the Guard, the powerful DP2 oceangoing tug that was recently painted in Boskalis livery and renamed the BOKA Guard. With an impressive bollard pull of 284 tons, the BOKA Guard is well-equipped to assist in the transport, installation and dismantling of large structures such as FPSOs. Moreover, the vessel also excels in complex emergency response salvage operations at sea. A prime example of its capabilities is the role it played during the salvage of the grounded container vessel, Ever Given, in the Suez Canal by our SMIT Salvage colleagues in 2021. Together with several other powerful tugs, the BOKA Guard managed to refloat the 400-meter-long vessel (read more about this operation: https://lnkd.in/eCWZCGRn). While the BOKA Guard operated as a ‘hired force’ for Boskalis during the Ever Given refloating, it has recently joined our extensive fleet. We warmly welcome this special vessel and its crew! #boskalis #creatingnewhorizons #bokaguard #anchorhandlingtug #dp2vessel #evergiven #offshore #transportandinstallation #emergencyresponse

𝗚𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗯𝗼𝗸 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗗𝗼𝗰𝗸𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 Times change. And with time, sometimes the destination of a particular location on the globe also changes. One of those locations is the Western Docks at the Port of Dover, in the south-east of the United Kingdom. Our trailing suction hopper dredger Gateway and spray pontoon Steenbok reclaimed new land in the port area, which in the near future will be used for new developments and customs activities for outbound and inbound (freight) traffic between the United Kingdom and the European mainland. Boskalis Westminster worked on this second phase of the Western Docks Revival-program project in a joint venture with McLaughlin & Harvey Ltd. Over the last two months our colleagues constructed a closure bund at Wick channel and Wellington dock and decommissioned the old yacht moorings. Initially the reclaimed material was sprayed in thin layers using the Steenbok to cap the existing seabed material, thereafter the team moved onto a land-based reclamation. In the end we deposited over 650,000 cubic meters of material using our trailer suction hopper dredger Gateway. #boskalis #creatingnewhorizons #boskaliswestminster #westerndocksrevival #dover #unitedkingdom #dredging #gateway #steenbok #trailingsuctionhopperdredger #spraypontoon #portofdover #doverport #mclauglinandharvey

𝗣𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 As a global dredging and offshore contractor and maritime services provider, we operate in numerous locations with our fleet of over 500 vessels. However, one area we haven't been active in for some time is the west coast of the Americas. That has now changed. Because our trailing suction hopper dredger Crestway recently navigated through the Panama Canal to carry out essential maintenance dredging work in Puerto Chiapas, a key Mexican port on the Pacific Ocean. This ‘Pacific dredging project’ addresses the issue of silt accumulation in the access channel and basins, which compromises accessibility. With our Crestway, we dredge the excess silt and ensure that the port, an important hub for agricultural exports in the region, remains accessible to cruise and container vessels. #boskalis #creatingnewhorizons #dredging #facilitatingglobaltrade #crestway #mexico #chiapas #pacific

𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱, 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 Prior to the installation of an offshore wind farm in the North Sea or Baltic Sea a survey must almost always be conducted for the possible presence of unexploded ordnances (UXO). Many thousands of bombs, mines and other munitions were deployed there, especially during World War II, which did not explode. Now, some 80 years later, these old explosives pose a threat in the development of offshore wind farms. With the Kamara, Boskalis has a dedicated vessel to trace potential UXO. In recent months the vessel has been active in the Polish section of the Baltic Sea, where she was tasked with locating and thoroughly investigating 160 targets in order to eliminate the risk of an explosion during the construction of the future offshore wind farm Baltic Power. This survey went so well that not only the requested 160 targets were surveyed by our Kamara, but even more than 300 potential explosive objects. With the UXO survey successfully completed, the Kamara will also carry out the next preparatory activities for the construction of the offshore wind farm by removing boulders in order to clear the way for the installation of the future wind farm's (export) cables. The 1.2 GW Baltic Power offshore wind farm, developed by ORLEN S.A. and Northland Power Inc., is the most advanced offshore wind project in Poland and will be able to cover 3 percent of the national demand for electricity and reduce CO2 emissions by 2.8 million tons. #boskalis #creatingnewhorizons #kamara #uxo #balticpower #balticsea #offshorewind #energytransition
