CBM Global Disability Inclusion

We are proud to continue our partnership with the Center for Disability in Development (#CDD) for the last 29 years marked by numerous #projects, collaborations, failures, achievements, and #learnings, always solidified CBM Global Disability Inclusion and CDD to move forward with #innovation, #sustainability, and scalability both in #development and #humanitarian contexts across the country.   Today, both organizations engaged in a collaborative brainstorming session to identify impactful, #evidence-based projects already implemented, explore potential intervention areas, and align thematic & strategic priorities. This effort aims to develop long-term new programmes focusing on evolving contexts. This is the initial phase of a comprehensive process, a series of consultations, joint field visits, and field data collection, will follow to develop impactful initiatives for the persons with disabilities and Organizations Persons with Disabilities (#OPD). We believe our joint efforts will reinforce the disability movement and ensure to build a more equitable and inclusive world for all.

The climate crisis impacts everyone, but persons with disabilities (PWDs) are among the most affected. They face heightened risks during disasters due to limited resources, inadequate technology, and exclusion from climate policies. COP29 was a critical moment to advance ambitious targets through the New Collective Quantified Goal (NCQG), especially for Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and other vulnerable groups. Yet, the outcomes were insufficient, with minimal financial commitments, reflecting ongoing injustice. For me, COP29 marked a milestone in advocating for disability inclusion. Together, we pushed for the recognition of a Disability Caucus and worked to elevate discussions on transitioning it into a formal constituency with support from the UNFCCC Secretariat. While progress was made, significant work lies ahead. Globally, 1.6 billion PWDs require eight times more resources to adapt to climate challenges compared to others. This issue demands urgent attention. We must continue our collective efforts to ensure recognition, equity, and climate justice for persons with disabilities. Working with CBM Global Disability Inclusion country team, partners and OPDs in the Philippines to wrestle with the knotty issues of safeguarding risk in the work that we do. Persons with disabilities are the experts in the risks they face and how to mitigate those risks. Designing safeguarding measures in partnership with OPDs and person with disabilities is one of the ways CBM Global is ensuring disability inclusive safeguarding practice. #disabilityinclusivesafeguarding #safeguarding

Inclusion is one of the core value, at the heart of everything we do at the Mental Health for Youth Initiative (MHYI). To deepen our commitment to this value, we had a significant meeting with CBM Global Disability Inclusion, to explore ways to advance our work with People with Disabilities (PWDs). During the discussions, we identified several areas where our missions align, focusing on: • Creating sustainable programs that empower PWDs. • Advancing inclusion in mental health advocacy. • Building more impactful and scalable initiatives that foster growth and resilience. We are excited about the possibilities this collaboration holds and the potential to make a more inclusive and lasting impact in underserved communities. At MHYI, we truly believe that “Every Mind Matters,” and this step brings us closer to ensuring that no one is left behind.
