Circular Plastics NL and RVO open new call today – tips for a successful application! Starting today, entrepreneurs and researchers can apply for funding for innovative plastics projects. This is an opportunity to realize projects that contribute to high-quality plastics recycling, supported by Nationaal Groeifonds. However, how did previous applicants do it? Project 𝐒𝐊𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐒 applied in the CPNL open call in 2024 and received 2.9 M€ funding for the consortium aiming to close the loop in the stretch film (LLDPE) value chain. Partnering up (with Koninklijke Grolsch, NTCP, and Broeckx Plastic Recycling BV) Trioworld coordinated the application – how did they approach it? What insights and challenges did they encounter? Navigating Volumes and Value Chains Towards Circularity: Agriculture, Farming & Gardening The use of plastics in Agriculture, Farming & Gardening continues to rise, yet only ~16 kton of recyclates re-enter the system from the ~50 kton of plastic waste generated annually. This sector relies on external recyclates, a dependency that will become increasingly challenging with the implementation of PPWR & NCPN regulations. To close the loop, improving collection, sorting, and recycling rates is needed. An Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) scheme for all agricultural plastics, beyond just films, can be an essential driver for higher recycling rates and ensure a more sustainable system. Additionally, biodegradable and compostable solutions could offer new opportunities, and their integration into current recycling streams must be carefully managed. Ensuring that recyclates do not introduce legacy additives into the environment remains a critical challenge. Another brief update on the SKILLS project; the first major investments have been approved!👏 Trioworld is working with Koninklijke Grolsch, Nationaal Testcentrum Circulaire Plastics and Broeckx Plastic Recycling BV to develop technical and organizational solutions for integrating post-consumer recyclate into new stretch film. In recent months, we have conducted extensive testing and providing valuable insights. These promising results have led our investors to commit over one million euros to further development. We are excited about the progress and look forward to the next milestones.
