On July 17th 2020 I started work on #VidBlaster #X6. A major release bump was necessary as broadcast companies asked for higher resolutions, higher framerates and more inputs, and that would mean a thorough rewrite of VidBlaster's inners. Meanwhile interesting projects came along that asked for even more performance and (replay) features, and as a result I ended up working on and rewriting X6 for almost 4 years. But today I am pleased, and slightly relieved, to finally call it released! I won't post the many changes compared to X5, the list is 12 pages long, but instead feel free to search for #X6 or just download the free trial at www.vidblaster.com. Note this is a free upgrade for all Studio & Broadcast licensees.

Now the #JLCooper controller is fully supported it is time to implement support for the SKAARHOJ Time Spin (XC8) controller to the latest #VidBlaster #X6. Although I prefer the heavier jog wheel of the JLCooper, the finesse of the XC8 and its display quality is superb! If you have any suggestions and/or requests on its implementation, now's the time to let me know! E.g. what'll be the default function of the digit buttons, clips or cams?

Release VidBlasterX v6.059 RC1 Finally it's time for X6 Release Candidate 1! This means the official release is imminent and there will be no more changes in the software or its API, just bug fixes. ⦁ Improved the JLCooper I/O module to work with all controller firmware versions 2.28 & above. Also improved jogging performance and replaced 0.5x jog speed with 8x. ⦁ Improved audio robustness in the Replay module, no more audio hiccups if the system and/or drive cannot briefly keep up. Performance in general has improved significantly, making a 4 input 2 output replay setup possible on any 8 core PC like an Intel NUC or Dell Precision 3680 Workstation. Also various bugs and regressions were fixed. ⦁ Fixed a licensing issue with expired licences not reverting back to the Broadcast 4K Trial edition. ⦁ Fixed a regression when using multiple DeckLink Output modules. Just one more breakthrough.. The screenshot shows the latest VidBlaster X6 Replay running on a small NUC 9. This is 4* HD-SDI in, 2* HD-SDI out, no frame drops, no audio hiccups, a CPU that barely gets warm (1%) and NO GRAPHICS CARD installed! Which leaves me enough slots to install 2 DeckLink Duo 2 (awesome) cards.
