No one is holding their breath for your next big product idea. It might be brilliant, and the temptation to start the development might be more alluring than that stupid apple in the Garden of Eden. Yet, do not do it. Unless you have already sold a screenshot to a couple of customers. I've made this mistake more times than I'm willing to admit, building something and then continuing to build because: - It sounded sexy. "We are building an app." Back when it was all the rage. - I was absolutely convinced that it was the best idea since memes. - I half-assed the research because I was afraid of finding a competitive (read 'better') product that would shatter my crystal ball of delusion. - I started believing in my own tales. "Who wouldn't want that amazing product?" Probably no one! Unless their eyes light up when they see a screenshot. Chances are they wouldn't give a rat's behind to the product, either. This Tuesday, we had the pleasure of hosting an AI workshop for the business tenants at the iconic Groot Handelsgebouw. We discussed the good, bad, and ugly sides of LLMs and explored how SMEs can start integrating AI into their operations. We also had practical exercises and team competitions, with AI being our judge. And yes, AI selected a clear winner! We wish a happy new year to all of you! And we are starting right away with some interesting AI news! There is a new interesting contender in the Language Model world: Mamba. Mamba is a new architecture that has two very interesting advantages: First, the new mamba architecture is over 10 times faster than the current large language models, such as GPT 4. This means, it will be much faster in reading text, processing information, and generating long answers. Second, and even more interesting: The new mamba model does not have the same restrictions for the length of the text it can read as has ChatGPT. This means that Mamba can read several millions of words and still know and remember the most important parts. This is incredibly useful for having AI analyze human genetics, or AI analyzing 1000 of documents of a company and then suggesting a new strategy. With these interesting changes for AI on the horizon, 2024 seems to be as interesting of a year as 2023, if not much more. We at Daksha are excited to start the year with you!
