But for Ukrainians, the war has never paused for a single moment. It lives in the empty chairs at dinner tables, the shattered cities, the families torn apart, and the relentless fight for survival and freedom. 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟏 𝐚𝐭 TECHARENA 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝! 💥 It was a day where there were some incredible personalities on stage, and of course some great conversations on the conference floors. Without a doubt, the highlight was the high-profile speakers. Rather than keeping their lessons to ourselves, we wanted to share them with you! 𝟏. Marc Randolph, 𝐂𝐨-𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 Netflix Marc shared that his success came from embracing risk, encouraged by his dad. Netflix began from six months of daily brainstorming with Reed Hastings during commutes to the company they had sold not long prior. Marc stressed the importance of testing ideas in small steps rather than relying on business plans.  𝙃𝙞𝙨 𝙠𝙚𝙮 𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩: 𝘴𝘶𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘴 𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘤𝘬𝘭𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘣𝘺 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 & 𝘱𝘪𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨.  Netflix grew after hundreds of trials, eventually innovating with the DVD subscription model that took off. 𝟐. 𝐓𝐨𝐧𝐲 𝐇𝐚𝐰𝐤  Tony shared his inspiring journey, highlighting perseverance in skateboarding, which – in just one extreme example - took 14 years to achieve one extra half turn. Growing up he felt like a misfit & skateboarding was his escape. Initially, he never imagined skateboarding would support him financially.  𝐇𝐢𝐬 𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞: "𝘐𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘧𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘸 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦, 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵'𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮."  Tony said he’d never do something purely out of risk-taking. He always had a vision in mind, and if he could visualize it & knew he had the tools to make it happen, the only thing left was to commit. 𝟑. Richard shared stories of his entrepreneurship and philanthropic life journey, including how Virgin Atlantic started by renting a charter plane and writing ticket prices on a little chalk board when his actual flight was cancelled! Naturally, he filled up a plane and then decided to start an airline! He also shared his view that, although there is plenty to be hopeful about in the future (including technology), that it is a pivotal time geopolitically and that everyone needs to ensure large political powers don’t determine (and harm) the future for the generations to come.
