Congratulations also from the European Council of Landscape Architecture Schools to this great International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA) achievement: https://lnkd.in/eH4u4kvy
Today marks a pivotal moment as IFLA and UN-Habitat officially formalize their partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This collaboration marks a significant step toward addressing some of the most urgent challenges facing urban communities worldwide. As cities continue to grow, the need for resilient, #sustainable, inclusive, and healthy spaces has never been more urgent. Together, UN-Habitat (United Nations Human Settlements Programme) and IFLA are committed to tackling these challenges by leveraging the strengths of #landscapearchitecture, a field that integrates ecological, social, and aesthetic values, positioning it uniquely to transform #urbanplanning. This MoU culminates a multi-year journey that began with initial conversations at World Urban Forum 10. Now, at World Urban Forum 12 Egypt, we are proud to formalize this partnership, a commitment that has developed through these three pivotal forums. We are excited to see how this partnership unfolds and look forward to the positive impact it will have on shaping the cities of tomorrow! #LandscapeArchitecture #UNHabitat #IFLA #GreenCities #SustainableUrbanDesign #ResilientCommunities

More opportunities for Doctoral Students to deepen discussion on research methods. Thanks Laura Cipriani and TU Delft Team! https://lnkd.in/e_-t8iPK
Join us at the 2nd LA PhD Colloquium on "Landscape Research Methods," which will be held on September 30 at 2 p.m. in the Berlage Room at Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment, TU Delft. Among various activities, we will host two prominent lecturers: - Martin Prominski | Leibniz Universität Hannover "Positioning Research through Design in Landscape Architectural Research" - Elen Deming | NC State University "Pragmatism: Toward an Epistemology of Practice-based Design Research" The second Ph.D. Landscape Community Colloquium presents the ongoing Ph.D. works from the Section of Landscape Architecture at TU Delft by discussing research methods in landscape architecture. Landscape research methods encompass diverse approaches to understanding, analyzing, and designing landscapes. They are crucial for investigating various aspects of landscapes, from their ecological functions to their social and cultural dimensions. Research methods in landscape architecture embrace empirical inquiry, design thinking, and stakeholder engagement, ranging from site analysis to design research, from participatory methods to interviews and questionnaires, from fieldwork to case studies, etc. By employing diverse research methods, landscape architects can gain insights into the complex interactions between people, environments, and landscapes and develop innovative practices. The Colloquium will seek to address the following questions. What methods do landscape researchers use? Are they different from those of other disciplines? How could they be implemented? Ph.D. candidates will present one research method used in their research, describe it, and argue how and why this method is relevant to their research. Organized by Curator Laura Cipriani Organizational Secretariat Yuka Yoshida, Yifei Zhao Participants Discussants Laura Cipriani, Eric Luiten, Prof. Dr. Steffen Nijhuis, Michiel Pouderoijen, Fabiana Toni, Nico Tillie, René van der Velde, Gerdy Verschuure- Stuip Ph.D. Candidates Rosa de Wolf, Mônica Veras Morais, Yuka Yoshida, Yifei Zhao, @Jorrit Parmentier, Haoxiang ZHANG, Amna Riaz, mustiafiz al mamun, @Jingsen Lian, @Zaichen Wu, @Junkai Lan
