On 29 October, ChemCologne and Chemiepark Knapsack co-hosted the ECSPP autumn member meeting 2024. After the formal General Assembly in the morning, the hosts treated the members to a very informative programme kicking off with a presentation about the future of the chemical industry in Germany by Malte Kueper of the German Economic Institute, followed by a talk by Raoul Meys of Carbon Minds outlining the ChemCologne region’s transformation to climate neutral chemical production. On behalf of the hosting venue, Pierre Kramer and Sebastian Trunk further zoomed in on the Knapsack park’s latest development, the new Knapsite. A site tour completed a successful meeting that demonstrated the purpose of ECSPP as meeting platform for the chemical sites in Europe in these interesting times. www.ChemicalParks.eu #chemicalsites #chemicalindustryeurope

After years of preparation, construction has officially begun on Circtec's flagship #circular factory in the Chemical cluster Delfzijl. A consortium of European, national, and regional investors has finalized financing for this industrial showcase. Circtec will use an innovative process to transform 200,000 tons of used #tires in Delfzijl into a range of green chemicals and materials. The company aims to reclaim carbon black from used tires and use it to make new tires. New plastics will be made from circular naphtha. The biofuels produced will be used to decarbonize international shipping. #carbonblack #biofuels #decarbonization #circular #naphta https://lnkd.in/gM2T8rCt

Thanks Kokkola Industrial Park - KIP for your hospitality and and for giving us more insights in your impressive park! In October this year we will see each other again in Cologne.
This week, we had the pleasure to host our European colleagues representing different chemical industrial sites in Europe. The unifying factor for us all is ECSPP, an organization that aims to promote foreign investments into Europe and especially to its member sites. By the way, KIP (Kokkolan Suurteollisuusalueyhdistys i.e. KIP Association) is the only Nordic member of ECSPP. We told our guests how Kokkola Industrial Park - KIP works on a practical level; infrastructure, services and goods. We told them how we enable and develop cooperation in our industrial #ecosystem, and we opened up our concrete methods of operation. In addition, we talked about the current investment projects of both KIP and the Kokkolan kaupunki - Karleby stad / city of Kokkola. Among other things, the production of battery-grade lithium hydroxide (from Keliber’s own ore resources) and hydrogen-related issues got people talking a lot. End of the visit, we concluded that we are facing similar #opportunities and #challenges in our daily work developing industrial sites. For example, is there enough electricity / water in the future, how to attract new talent, how to manage properly (and in time) matters required by legislation and authorities. The positive thing for us all is that similar exposure of new #investments and investment plans has not been seen earlier. Many, many thanks to our wonderful guests, and to our experts who were also great performers: Matti Laurila (KIP Service Oy), Jonne Sandberg (city of Kokkola), Kai Pulkkinen (Sibanye-Stillwater’s Keliber lithium project), Natascha Skog (Hycamite TCD Technologies), Berndt Schalin (Flexens Oy Ab) and Johanna Hylkilä. Until next time! Isabel Caldeira Cardoso, Miguel Gama, Daniel Wauben, Pierre Kramer, Barbara Ginter, Eelco Vrieling, Martin Neundorf

#BASF plans to expand the global production capacity of its Basoflux® range of paraffin inhibitors at one of our member parks in Tarragona, Spain. This #investment will enable BASF’s Oilfield #Chemicals business to meet the current and future demand of novel paraffin inhibitors for the Oil & Gas industry. Additional assets will create efficiencies and flexibility in the production of newly developed solutions, such as more #sustainable aqueous-based dispersion #paraffin inhibitors and solvent-based products. This #plant #expansion will also enable BASF to act swiftly to on-demand changes in the market. First customer deliveries are expected for the beginning of 2025. https://lnkd.in/ePXpsTJU
