Just a month ago the ECVO annual congress started in Amsterdam. This year, experts in exotic animal ophthalmology from Europe and the USA came to share their knowledge! On the Continuing Education Day on Thursday, Rüdiger Korbel, Bret Moore, Claudia Hartley, Leandro Teixeira, Joanna Hedley, and Sara Thomasy held great lectures focused on anatomy, physiology, and histology of exotic animals as well as ophthalmic examination and handling technics of exotic and lab animals. This year’s State of the Art Lecture was given by Dan-Eric Nilsson, professor of functional zoology at the Lund University in Sweden. His fascinating lecture titled ‘The evolution of eyes and vision’ provided a remarkable insight into the diversity of animal eyes. The meeting came to an end on Sunday with the Masterclass and more advanced topics including phacoemulsification in rabbits, exotic animal ocular imaging (CT, MRI, OCT), histopathology, anesthesia, and photography. These excellent lectures were given by Bret Moore, Rüdiger Korbel, Rick F. Sanchez, Claudia Hartley, Jonna Hedley, and Leandro Teixeira. Thank you to all the invited speakers for the quality of their presentation and thank you to the Scientific Committee for putting together this excellent program !
