Let us introduce ourselves We are the Energy Masters at the Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen 🏫 in the Netherlands. All three of our Masters contribute to the energy transition; all in their own field of expertise by using applied research, consultancy work or providing strategy and policy advice. ⚡Energy for Society The Energy for Society master program educates bachelor graduates from various disciplines to become energy transition professionals who help communities, municipalities, governments and companies with the necessary energy transition. ⚡European Master in Renewable Energy In this program students learn to design and implement new technologies in the Renewable Energy. 🛠 ⚡European Master in Sustainable Energy System Management Sustainable Energy System Management teaches students the business side of the (implementation of) energy systems. We had a packed week in Brussels. Here’s a recap of what kept us busy:    💧 𝗛𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗲𝗻 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸: Last week, Brussels became the epicentre of hydrogen innovation during the fifth edition of European Hydrogen Week. Together with our colleagues from Gemeente Emmen and Gemeente Groningen, we visited the hydrogen exposition to learn and exchange more about the advancements of hydrogen applications all over Europe. Next to that, there were also more than enough opportunities to interact with other prominent hydrogen regions and cities, such as Scotland Europa Stavanger Region European Office North Sweden European Office. With Groningen as the first #Hydrogenvalley in Europe, we are proud to be part of this movement ♻️   🔎 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿-𝗨𝗽 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝘇𝗲: On Thursday, the 21st of November, we hosted a joint event with Energy Masters | Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen to connect the master students ‘Energy for Society’ with policymakers and representatives from other European regions and cities that are active in the energy transition. Together, we brainstormed about the collective challenges and opportunities we are facing and thought of innovative solutions for the #EuropeanEnergyTranstion. We also engaged in a lively panel debate with Raquel Garcia Hermida-van der Walle Yves Lacroix Twan van Erp Harry Tuinder to discuss the developments on the European level. An eventful day with a lot of food for thought to take home! 🤝   🗺️ 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹: Our #EuropeanYouthCapital delegation from Gemeente Leeuwarden also made the trip down to Brussels. After they spent the night at the Ghent #EYC award ceremony, where the winner of 2027 got announced (congratulations Parma!), we sat together to brainstorm about all the opportunities that the EU and Leeuwarden have to offer each other. We also had a conversation with Europe Goes Local to see how our youth work can learn and exchange with other youth work in Europe. ⚡Energy For Society: Brussel Excursion⚡ With our Energy for Society students we are in Brussels at the moment to experience the European Union from the inside. 🌍🇪🇺 Yesterday we've visited the European Parliament and we were lucky to attend a meeting of the Europees Comité van de Regio's . In the afternoon we've attended the Neth-ER (Netherlands house for Education and Research) conference: investigating in knowledge & changing global perspectives. Today we are at the Huis van de Nederlandse Provincies where our students prepared an interactive workshop on the energy transition. ⚡Engineering the Future event⚡ Yesterday, the Masters and ENTRANCE were present at the Institute of Engineering of the Hanze's Engineering the Future event. ✨ During the event, students could visit people from different companies in search of vacancies, internships, graduation positions and professional perspectives. ⚡Masterclasses⚡ The Energy Masters started with a new activity for our students: the masterclasses. These master classes aim to introduce you to all the professors of ENTRANCE and their areas of expertise. The professors will take you through their research within the context of the energy transition so you will know what is happening at ENTRANCE. Today, together with my classmates from Energy Masters | Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen , we had the opportunity to play the We-Energy Game in class, and it was a truly insightful experience! ✅ 💡 We explored sustainable energy solutions for a small village and a larger city like Groningen, strategizing how to implement renewable energy sources on local maps. This interactive session highlighted the complexities of the energy transition and the importance of collaboration among stakeholders to achieve sustainability. ⚡ EMRE-SESYM Excursion RWE ⚡ Today, the EMRE en SESYM master programs visited the RWE coal and biomass power plant in Eemshaven, Groningen ♨ 🏭 . At this powerplant, Gerard Greiner talked with the students about the RWE, the powerplant, and discussed the challenges of making such a plant and our energy system more sustainable 🌳 . After the presentation and discussion, the students received a tour of the RWE powerplant and Gerard explained how the plant worked.
