Another year and another amazing Amsterdam Dance Event! We hit the ground running, seeing Spotify Huis and a great opening panel hosted by Head of Dance & Electronic Music Ronny Ho, alongside Eric van Holland and Charlotte Kain. Then straight into a meeting across the river with our old pals and colleagues, Thijs and Marsel van der Wielen of Delsin, before back to see another old friend Marnik Braekevelt from Banshee Records. After Laurent Garnier’s ‘fabric 25’ collaboration talk with the mighty man of words, Joe Muggs, we then headed to the Association For Electronic Music Mixer, hosted by the fab Jay Ahern. There, we caught up with the one and only Sheldon Prince from Traxsource, before rounding off with an EPM dinner and a Laurent Garnier / fabric dinner! After drinks meant a catch up with Alex Stacey from FATdrop and the legend that is Dean Muhsin from Dispersion PR! Thursday morning and the wonderful Dirk-Jan Deckwitz from Rush Hour Music B.V. hosted us in their fabulous basement event / club space, that had people queuing round the block the previous day for Louie Vega’s regular DJ pilgrimage. It was then a walk over to Bar Theo for Clone Records’ regular pop event / store to see Chris, Wouter, Jelle, and of course, Serge himself whilst Legowelt dropped a live set right next to us! (Do meetings get any better?) Then time for a catch up with Sjoerd who runs superb label Nous’ Klaer Audio before a long overdue meeting with Rena Bakaloni from Wallroom. Following that, we went to the Hoxton Hotel and saw ever-affable Will from Beatport. There we also bumped into Lois Marshall from Defected Records and Paul from Advanced, who happened to be cycling past! Then it was over to one of Amsterdam’s classic ‘brown bars’ for a catch up with Merlin’s Joe Dahner (YNWA). And if it couldnt get any better, dinner with the Apple and Platoon crew hosted by the total legend and one-off that is Jon Berry (date night!) with Jason Marziotto, Tim Sweeney and Fabrice de Saint Remy. We then rounded off with late drinks with Martin from Naxos before hitting Clone’s night at new club Raum with DJ Stingray, The Lady Machine, The Exaltics and of course, Serge! Friday was thankfully a quieter affair as we hooked up with Victor Belot from Deezer. Next, a final regular meeting with BIP Record's John Van Noten who was about to run the Amsterdam Marathon. At this point, it was something that we felt we had already done… but in a less healthy way! Finally, flying back from Schipol it would never be the same without a final few beers and bitteballen in Murphy’s Irish Bar. Until next year ADE - you were as magnificent as ever!
