Creating a sense of belonging for everyone within organisations through Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Social Safety

Over ons

Erasmus Centre for Women and Organisations (ECWO) is committed to fostering inclusion. Our founding purpose in 2014 was to empower women and to create a level playing field by building communities for organisational change. Today, ECWO has expanded its perspective to embrace a wider vision of a world of inclusive prosperity. Our new mission is to create a sense of belonging for everyone within organisations through diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), anchored in social safety. We strive for settings where everyone feels valued, respected and supported. We conduct research and produce evidence-led educational programmes, events, coaching, advocacy, and advisory services. We stay true to our roots, and we have evolved to recognise that achieving true inclusion and equity requires encompassing all, regardless of gender or identity.

  • Representation matters; especially in the digital spaces where knowledge is created and shared. That’s why ECWO is proud to support the Beyond the Binary: Wikipedia Edit-a-thon 2025, organised in collaboration with Studium Generale, dr. Laura Braden (Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication), Wikimedia Netherlands and Kunstinstituut Melly. This event aims to close the gender and diversity gap on Wikipedia by encouraging participants to create and edit entries that bring attention to underrepresented voices. Do not worry if you have no prior editing experience! Training and support will be provided to help you make a difference. See you on January 27th, at Kunstinstituut Melly! • ECWO is proud to highlight the contribution of Hanneke Takkenberg and Michael Page to Global Focus: The EFMD Business Magazine | Annual Research | 2024 – Women In, and Beyond, Business Schools. Their chapter, Toward Sustainable Gender Equity and Inclusion Culture in European Business Schools, explores the systemic changes needed to advance gender equity and foster inclusive cultures in business schools. The chapter discusses challenges such as gender pay gaps, underrepresentation of women in leadership, and the minimal integration of gender in research. It emphasizes the role of leadership in driving systemic change and highlights tools like the Inclusion Gap Instrument (IGI), developed through the efforts of Kirsten Kardijk and the EQUAL4EUROPE team. We are proud to collaborate on this important research and invite you to read the full chapter: https://lnkd.in/dvBWCxcS #GenderEquity #Inclusion #Leadership #EQUAL4EUROPE #ECWO

  • We had an exceptional time exploring pathways to inclusion during our annual conference in Rotterdam on Friday 15 November!   It was wonderful seeing longstanding members of the ECWO community, and newcomers to our mission to create a sense of belonging for everyone within organisations, through diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), anchored in social safety. The day’s programme of captivating keynotes (Laura Killingbeck, Hafez Ismaili M'hamdi, Angela Maas) and engaging and thought-provoking breakaway sessions, as well as the opportunity for lots of networking and connection was a fitting celebration of ECWO’s 10th anniversary.   We would thank everyone who attended, our speakers and facilitators and our partners and sponsors. Your participation made the day!   We would also like to take a moment to thank the men in the audience. As was clear during the day, the pathways to inclusion involve all of us – no matter our gender or identity. We relish having men joining in this journey and participating in the vital conversations around them and we greatly look forward to having more men at our future conferences and events.   Keep an eye on this platform for news about our 2025 events in the coming months: https://lnkd.in/eZzPeyPk   In the meantime, enjoy these photos that capture the spirit of a memorable day! 🤗

  • Today, on International Men’s Day, we reflect on the importance of "Positive Male Role Models"; men who inspire, support, and lead with empathy and integrity. This year’s theme encourages us to acknowledge the contributions of men who positively impact their families, communities, workplaces, while also shining a light on topics such as mental health and well-being. At our 2024 ECWO Conference: Pathways to Inclusion, we were honored to welcome men who joined us as keynote speakers, facilitators, and engaged participants, helping to create pathways toward gender equity and inclusion. Your contributions enriched our conversations and highlighted the value of collaboration across all genders! Let’s continue to celebrate positive male role models and build inclusive spaces where everyone can thrive! 💡 Over the last 10 years inspiration has been the highest expense category on my 'non-essential' budget. 🌟 Think coaching, inspiring events (like that time I went to see Michelle Obama on my own!) and key note speeches by my favorite thought leaders. 💵 I have seen the tangible effect of these moments on my life and career and I always made it a point to use the personal development budget made available by my employer to replenish my inspiration bucket. 👉🏻 If this sounds like what you need as the days get shorter and darker, join us for Erasmus Centre for Women and Organisations (ECWO) 10th anniversary Conference, Pathways to Inclusion! ❓ Why? To get inspired and understand what you can do to foster inclusion, hear from experts and get tangible advice, to connect with like-minded people 📅 When? This coming Friday, November 15 · 9:30am - 4:30pm CET 🚢 Where? S.S. Rotterdam 🩸 I’m excited to lead an interactive breakout session 'Inclusion Through the Life Stages', during which we'll get to explore how menstrual health, menopause, aging and more impact work experiences and performance and how organizations can address these shifting needs to foster inclusivity and belonging. 🤝🏻 Whether you're just starting your journey or deep into your DEI work, this event offers a perfect opportunity to gather insights, form new connections, and walk away with actionable ideas. 🎟️ Check the full program below and secure your ticket!
